Skin pH: what is it and what is it for?
The skin performs many functions, the main one being to protect our body from the outside, with which it also puts us in contact. The good news is that pH plays a central and indispensable role in ensuring this protective barrier functions perfectly . The bad news is that the skin's pH is under constant attack from external aggressions : smog, temperature changes, chemical substances. Skin care products help to maintain the pH at its ideal level and therefore the skin itself is protected. What is pH? pH is a physical quantity , discovered in the early 1900s, which indicates the degree of acidity or basicity of a solution. The neutral pH value is 7, that of pure water at 25°. The general pH value of the skin is between 4.7 and 5.7 5. A value lower than 7 is acidic and higher is alkaline, if it follows that the natural pH of the skin is slightly acidic for this reason we speak of acid mantle. The pH of each person's skin varies slightly based on gender, body part and various factors including hormones so it does not remain identical over the years. Why is skin pH important? When we talk about pH we are referring to the skin's acid mantle which is very important for the health of the protective barrier. Neutralizes aggressive alkaline substances. It reduces bacterial proliferation. Maintains the ideal environment for the skin's natural bacterial flora. If the skin's pH is altered , the natural balance of the skin barrier is compromised . In these conditions the skin becomes dehydrated, more sensitive and reactive to environmental factors and more prone to infections, eczema, dermatitis The external factors that most stress the skin are chemical agents alkaline based cosmetics temperature and humidity changes pollution and dirt washing too frequently or with very hot water Then there are internal factors that modify the pH Genetics, biological age and hormones affect the pH of the skin. For example, a newborn's skin has an acid mantle that is not yet fully formed and has super delicate skin. During periods of hormonal change (such as puberty, pregnancy, and menopause), the pH of the skin also changes.
Learn moreKnowing Your Skin: Factors That Affect Your Skin
The skin is the largest organ in our body, it connects us to the world and also protects us from environmental factors such as irritants, allergens and microbes. It regulates body temperature to make us feel at our best. There are many factors that affect the skin and influence its well-being: internal and external to our body. There are some influences that we cannot do anything about, but some we can intervene in a positive way: effective treatments help protect it and maintain a younger appearance for a long time. Endogenous factors that affect the skin When talking about endogenous factors, that is, internal factors that influence the skin, we include genetic factors, hormonal conditions and specific health conditions of the body. Genetics An individual's genetic makeup determines every single cell and therefore also the type of skin (normal, dry, oily or combination) and influences its condition. Genetics plays a central role in biological skin aging, namely: impaired cell renewal, decreased secretions of sebaceous and sweat glands, degeneration of connective tissue and loss of firmness, and decreased skin elasticity. Biological skin aging is not premature skin aging. Premature skin aging is instead caused by exogenous or external factors, such as exposure to the sun or smoking. Genetic factors determine not only biological aging and skin type but also the predisposition to particular conditions such as Atopic Dermatitis, Psoriasis and Ichthyosis. For example, those born with a lack of filaggrin, a protein, have sensitive skin and are predisposed to atypical dermatitis because their skin barrier is compromised. It follows that I will be determined to follow a proper skincare routine to protect my skin as much as possible. Some diseases Diabetes, kidney disease and others – can affect the condition of the skin. Hormones Hormonal changes such as menopause, pregnancy, adolescence and puberty have a significant impact on the skin. Just think of the typical acne-prone skin of teenagers. During pregnancy, hormones can stimulate melanin and cause melasma, a form of hyperpigmentation that causes skin discoloration. During menopause, female estrogen levels decrease. These hormones positively influence the skin's water balance and their decrease causes structural changes to the skin as well as dryness. Exogenous factors that affect the skin Exogenous factors, that is external, depend on the environment that surrounds us and our lifestyle. We smoke, we love the sun, we use detergents without knowing what they contain… The sunlight Sun is life. But in moderation! Exposure that is too long and without adequate protection significantly damages the skin, causing radical premature aging. The sun's rays affect the skin with sunburn, UVA rays have been linked to skin cancer, photoaging, sunburn, hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration. Prolonged exposure to the sun triggers the formation of free radicals. Temperature Extreme weather temperatures affect the skin. In a very cold climate the skin closes the pores to avoid heat loss and the secretion of the sebaceous glands is reduced, causing dryness. Low humidity in closed environments and with central heating can dehydrate the skin making it very sensitive. Some conditions, such as rosacea, can be triggered by high temperatures. Aggressive products The skin's pH is slightly acidic, between 4.7 and 5.75. Many commercial cleansers use aggressive surfactants with an alkaline pH and damage the skin barrier, making even normal skin sensitive or hypersensitive. Hypersensitive skin is prone to skin infections and dermatitis. We always choose eco-friendly organic products suitable for our skin so we can make sure we don't run into problems of this type. Hygiene Even washing continuously damages our skin. The skin becomes dehydrated and rougher. Diet Eating a healthy and balanced diet helps keep your entire body and skin healthy. What is good for our skin? Water, water, and more water, and then vitamin C, fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat proteins (fish). Lifestyle Lifestyle affects your entire body, including your skin! Some useful tips to delay skin aging and prevent skin problems: Let's learn to manage stress, do physical activity, enjoy the right hours of sleep to give cells the chance to regenerate. Above all, if we smoke, let's stop doing it! Cigarette smoke is a major source of free radical release. Smoking makes your skin look older and increases wrinkles. When you quit smoking, your skin will visibly look healthier in a short period of time.
Learn moreFace taping: what it is, how it was created and how it works
Face taping is a new non-invasive anti-aging aesthetic technique for facial skin that is becoming increasingly popular in Europe. The tapes applied to the face stimulate and drain the skin, resulting in a reduction of bags and swelling, a general relaxation of the muscles and a reduction of wrinkles and expression lines. It is a technique particularly suitable for dull and mature skin . What is face taping? Face taping is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment capable of stimulating blood and lymphatic circulation and relieving facial muscle tension, reducing wrinkles and expression lines. It is, in all respects, a direct evolution of anti-wrinkle facial gymnastics. The tapes used in face taping are made up of small waves that lift and relieve the skin. This movement stimulates a sort of small skin massage that is capable of counteracting muscle contractures typically caused by tension, stress or postural errors. The Origins of Face Taping Face taping originated in Russia and soon took hold in South Korea. It derives from the famous kinesio taping , or the preventive, rehabilitative and therapeutic treatment of sports medicine, orthopedics and traumatology. Tapes, patches or elastic adhesive bandages called colored kinesiology tapes are applied to the areas subject to treatment by exerting a light traction. In this way, the physiological load of the area decreases. The same thing happens with face taping. The tape, free of any active ingredient, cream or serum, is applied to the face to help the muscles and skin. Even if they do not come with additional products, it is best to buy the tapes at the pharmacy or sports shops. In this way you will have the possibility of buying dermatologically tested tapes for both the cotton of the band and the adhesive used. How does face taping work? The areas of the face subjected to face taping treatment must be chosen carefully because they vary from person to person. This, of course, depends on your personal needs and requirements. There are, for example, people who need to treat the area of the procerus muscle and the frontalis muscle, people for whom it is more useful to treat the area of the zygomaticus minor and major, or the risorius muscle which is often involved in jaw tension and so on. Also, you should know that the applications of tapes are not limited to the face area only. In fact, you can apply them to relieve tension in the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which is located on both sides of the neck . With this type of application, the relief could help you reduce jaw tension and muscle migraines. The first few times you do face taping, it is advisable to seek the advice of a professional. Because, although these techniques are simple to learn and repeat in the future, it is necessary to understand the procedures well beforehand. You will be working with typically very short muscle groups and areas of your face that you will quickly learn to know, but give yourself the right amount of time to learn. Once you are independent , you will have to remember two simple instructions: • Face taping is a procedure that requires application on clean and dry facial skin . After cleansing, instead of proceeding with your normal skincare routine, apply the tape. The ideal is to do it in the evening to leave the tape on for 8 to 10 hours during the night. • The frequency of use of face taping is very variable and personal. If you feel the need to see the first results quickly, apply the tapes even for 10 consecutive days but, in general, for the first applications, a week of treatment is usually alternated with a week of rest. There are also situations in which a "shock treatment" is chosen, consisting of two weekly applications for about a month and, subsequently, one session every two weeks. Finally, always keep in mind that face taping is highly recommended for skin that is starting to show the first signs of aging, generally from the age of 35 onwards. Have you ever tried face taping?
Learn moreHow to deflate your face: here is the draining self-massage.
Do you wake up in the morning with a swollen face? The lying position while sleeping causes excess fluids to accumulate on the face, making the face appear puffy, the eyes tired and giving the skin an unhealthy appearance. Stress, lack of sleep, alcohol consumption, very salty foods and smoking are among the main causes of fluid accumulation that causes a puffy face. Puffy face: how to prevent it? There is no secret recipe, but here are 4 tips to prevent facial swelling : 1. Rest. Sleep at least 7-8 hours a night. This is the time our body needs to rest and regenerate. Your skin will also benefit! 2. Hydrate. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Water is essential for our body and drinking the right amount also helps to combat blemishes such as cellulite and a puffy face. If you can't, you can also drink tasty herbal teas, which help you stay hydrated. 3. Stop smoking. Avoid smoking, at least before going to sleep: smoking stresses the skin and reduces tissue oxygenation, which is essential for having bright and healthy skin. 4. Evening Skincare . Skincare is important, especially at the end of the day. Removing makeup and residues of smog and pollution that accumulate on the skin helps you have healthy skin free of imperfections. You can take advantage of your evening skincare routine for a draining facial massage : it reduces fluid retention and combats swelling. Swollen face: here is lymphatic drainage Lymphatic drainage facial massage is a particular facial self-massage technique : the movements performed allow you to stimulate lymphatic circulation and eliminate excess fluids that accumulate on the face. Facial lymphatic drainage is suitable for everyone , I particularly recommend it to those who spend many hours at the computer : the often incorrect position, the often frowning eyes can lead to a swollen face, bags and dark circles and - last but not least - expression wrinkles. With facial lymphatic drainage , we drain excess fluids, reduce puffiness , bags and dark circles , relax expression muscles and relieve stress for an intensely relaxing treatment . In the video at the beginning of the article, we discover together how to do a draining facial self-massage , together with our coach Rossella. Self-massage of the face stimulates lymphatic drainage and improves skin microcirculation, stimulating the production of elastin and collagen, capable of making the skin more elastic and luminous. This self-massage of the face also helps prevent facial wrinkles because it relieves muscle tension that typically accumulates in the face with emotions such as anxiety or stress. Learn moreProbiotics for Skincare: What They Are and How to Use Them
Probiotics in skincare are an innovative and indispensable ingredient in every facial routine: they help you protect your skin and rebalance it. Dry skin, irritation, acne, dermatitis and many other skin problems can arise from an altered skin barrier; probiotics help us restore it by strengthening our skin microbiota. What is the skin microbiota and how does it work? Imagine our body as a small Universe, where billions of microorganisms live and influence our general well-being. How many are there? Many, many in fact: it is estimated that they make up up to 3% of our body weight. This set of organisms, the microbiome, is different in different parts of the body and is unique for every human being: no two microbiomes are the same in the entire Universe! Surely you have heard about the bacteria that form the intestinal bacterial flora and you will have included in your diet foods to keep it healthy or supplements to restore imbalances, perhaps after antibiotic treatments. Even our skin is home to bacteria that keep it healthy and protect it from external aggressions. In just one square centimeter of skin, over 2 million bacteria of 500 species can live: quite a team! The set of these "good" bacteria is called microbiota and plays a fundamental role in the health of our skin: it protects it from external aggressions, irritation and inflammation. What happens if the microbiota alters? Our skin has the task of protecting the body from external agents and the microbiota helps it in this. But if the microbiota does not work well, the skin becomes more subject to external attacks that can cause irritation, dryness or skin problems such as rosacea, acne, dandruff, eczema, dermatitis. The microbiota is a delicately balanced system that can be altered by bad habits such as stress, poor diet, exposure to UV rays, detergents and cosmetics that are not suitable for your skin. In fact, some ingredients in cosmetics can damage the "good" bacteria that live on our skin and cause reactions such as redness, itching and blemishes. What are probiotics? Now that I've introduced you to the microbiome and we've seen how important its role is for the well-being of the body, it's time to understand how to keep it healthy. In addition to a healthy and balanced diet, we can take care of our bacteria with ingredients that "feed" them such as probiotics. Applied to the skin, probiotics can: improve the skin barrier: probiotics help reduce the skin's pH, promoting the well-being of "good" bacteria and reducing the growth of harmful ones; improve the level of skin hydration; protect against free radicals; protect against inflammatory conditions such as acne, dermatitis, eczema; support sensitive and fragile skin, reducing redness and irritation and making it more resistant to external stresses. Probiotics are therefore a recommended ingredient for all skin types , especially for stressed and inflamed skin. If your skin is normal, you can include a facial serum with probiotics in your skincare to support it during seasonal changes or periods of stress. How do I use probiotics in skincare? You can incorporate probiotics into your skincare routine with a toner mist and a booster serum to use alongside your regular routine. Probiotic Mist is a hydrating and soothing facial toner, with anti-aging and regenerating active ingredients. Thanks to probiotics and an exclusive patented complex of plant origin, it helps the skin strengthen its natural barrier function against external aggressions. From the first application the skin will be softer, more hydrated and protected. Thanks to Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid and revitalizing active ingredients, it gives brightness to the skin, prevents blemishes, dilated pores and skin imperfections. Spray onto dry face immediately after cleansing and pat lightly until absorbed. You can also apply the product throughout the day if your skin feels tight or needs extra hydration! Probiotic Booster is the booster serum with probiotics that helps you enrich your routine with active ingredients that nourish your microbiota. This booster is enriched with Vitamin E, an ingredient with a powerful antioxidant action that protects the skin from free radicals and makes it soft and smooth. The formula is completed by bisabolol and chamomile extracts, with a soothing, anti-inflammatory action, which helps reduce redness and protects the skin from environmental stress. Light and quickly absorbed, Probiotic Booster is tested for Nickel, Cadmium, Lead, Chromium, Cobalt and is fragrance-free, perfect even for the most sensitive and delicate skin. You can apply the probiotic booster serum directly after Probiotic Mist or you can add a few drops to your usual facial treatments. If cold, heat or stress are taking a toll on your skin, you can add a few drops of probiotic booster to your body and scalp care products too! Learn moreHow to choose hair products
This is an article dedicated to the first steps in the organic world : I'll talk to you about how to choose organic hair care products , to get the best results, without waste. You are on the Yumibio blog, where you can find hundreds of articles based on our experience with organic cosmetics, written to help you make targeted and informed purchases. In our shop you will find all the products I am talking about, you can buy them in total safety and receive them at your home by express courier Index How to choose organic products Which organic products to buy Organic shampoo Organic conditioner or organic mask Leave in and styling products How to choose organic products The first step to using organic cosmetics is towards your bathroom cabinet! Rule One: Zero Waste Read the labels of the products you already have at home , they all have a list of ingredients. Some of these, although safe, are not used in organic cosmetics and are replaced by other ingredients of natural origin. Reading labels can be tricky at first , but it will help you become familiar with common cosmetic ingredients and, over time, you will learn which ingredients your skin and hair particularly like and which ones are not for you. Even though the temptation to clean out is strong, the first rule of Yumibio is: zero waste ! Finish the products you already have at home: if there are a lot of them or if they are no longer suitable for you, you can give them away or use them for new purposes. Did you know that shampoo is also excellent as a body cleanser or for delicate clothes, while conditioner is an excellent alternative hair wash? Which organic products to buy While you finish your old products, you can already think about the new ones! Among organic cosmetics you will find many different products, rich in active ingredients that take care of your hair; at first they will all seem indispensable and you will discover that some of these products will really make the difference. However, I advise you not to buy many products right away, but to start with a few products, perhaps versatile and multipurpose. In the first few weeks of switching to organic cosmetics, you may in fact discover that your hair is different from what you thought : this happens because some ingredients in traditional cosmetics create a film on the hair that - in the long run - can weigh it down and make it appear different from what it actually is. To get started you will need: Organic shampoo Shampoo should be chosen based on the needs of your skin. I recommend starting with a delicate shampoo , also suitable for frequent washing: this will help you understand the real condition of your scalp. Later on, you can then add a shampoo for dry hair or a shampoo for greasy hair, with specific active ingredients for your needs. An excellent example of a shampoo to start your natural hair routine in the best way is the Delicate Shampoo by Yu ! Extra tip : also buy a shampoo dispenser . Organic shampoos produce less foam than traditional ones and you may be tempted to use more product than necessary. I therefore recommend that you dilute the shampoo (for medium-length hair, 10 ml of shampoo and 30 ml of water are sufficient), so that you can distribute it more easily on your hair, avoiding waste. Organic conditioner or organic mask These are products that are used after shampooing to untangle hair and remove knots ; they are always enriched with specific active ingredients and should be chosen based on the needs of the length of the hair. The mask is richer than the conditioner and should be left on for a few minutes (better if at least 5-10) to benefit from its active ingredients. A great product to start with is the Yuniwa Cosmetics mask : it detangles even the most unruly hair and is rich in illuminating and strengthening active ingredients. This makes it perfect for the first periods, when hair may appear duller, drier and more opaque. Plus, it has a super-cuddly scent of pears and vanilla, which has made many of our customers fall in love! Leave in and styling products These are products that are applied after rinsing out the mask or conditioner and are used to style the hair or to combat frizz or to protect it from the heat of the hairdryer . These products should be chosen based on the needs of your lengths: if you have curly hair you will need products to define and shape them, if you have frizzy hair you will need an anti-frizz product, if you have dry and treated hair you will instead need a restructuring product. When choosing a product, also consider the consistency: sprays and gels are usually lighter and also suitable for fine hair that gets dirty easily . If, on the other hand, you have dry and damaged hair, a cream or oil that provides more nourishment is better . {"layoutMobile":2,"layoutDesktop":3,"buttonAlign":"Center","buttonText":"Go to product","productTitle":{"hue":213,"saturation":0,"brightness":0,"alpha":1},"priceColor":{"hue":0,"saturation":1,"brightness":0},"discountPrice":{"hue":356,"saturation":0.74,"brightness":1},"buttonCo lor":{"hue":26.67,"saturation":0.037,"brightness":0.9529,"alpha":1},"textBottomColor":{"hue":0,"satu ration":0,"brightness":0.018750000000000044,"alpha":1},"activeTitleButton":false,"moreProduct":"View all","moreProductUrl":"cesbgg-kq.myshopify.com","rowNumber":1,"dynamicProductId":[{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977480589698","title":"Hair Filler - Siero rimpolpante per capelli 50 ml","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"13.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/hair-filler-siero-rimpolpante-per-capelli-50-ml-yuniwa-cosmetics-371.webp?v=1752506091&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/hair-filler-siero-rimpolpante-per-capelli-50-ml","altImage":"Hair Filler - Siero rimpolpante per capelli 50 ml - Yuniwa Cosmetics"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977476723074","title":"Hair Booster - Spray Rinforzante per capelli 50 ml","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"13.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/hair-booster-spray-rinforzante-per-capelli-50-ml-yuniwa-cosmetics-652.webp?v=1752487266&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/hair-booster-spray-rinforzante-per-capelli-50-ml","altImage":"Hair Booster - Spray Rinforzante per capelli 50 ml - Yuniwa Cosmetics"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977193148802","title":"Crema Rinforzante per Capelli","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"15.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/crema-rinforzante-per-capelli-yuniwa-cosmetics-yumibio-577.webp?v=1752484599&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/crema-rinforzante-per-capelli","altImage":"Crema Rinforzante per Capelli - Yuniwa Cosmetics"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977193083266","title":"Impacco Rinforzante per Capelli","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"15.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/impacco-rinforzante-per-capelli-yuniwa-cosmetics-yumibio-528.webp?v=1752494704&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/impacco-rinforzante-per-capelli","altImage":"Impacco Rinforzante per Capelli - Yuniwa Cosmetics"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977484325250","title":"Gel Modellante per Capelli - 200 ml","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"16.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/gel-modellante-per-capelli-200-ml-yuniwa-cosmetics-yumibio-871.webp?v=1752491868&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/gel-modellante-per-capelli-200-ml","altImage":"Gel Modellante per Capelli - 200 ml - Yuniwa Cosmetics"}],"typeSearch":"product","device":"desktop","decimalsPrice":2,"aspectRatio":"3 / 4","isAutoPlay":false,"isNavigation":false,"isPriceDisplay":false,"rowDynamic":"mot","activeDecimals":false,"hidden":false,"locked":false,"positionPrice":false,"currencyCodeCustom":"$","activeDynamicProd":true,"blockName":"Product"} Hair Filler - Siero rimpolpante per capelli 50 ml EUR 13.90 Go to product Hair Booster - Spray Rinforzante per capelli 50 ml EUR 13.90 Go to product Crema Rinforzante per Capelli EUR 15.90 Go to product Impacco Rinforzante per Capelli EUR 15.90 Go to product Gel Modellante per Capelli - 200 ml EUR 16.90 Go to product Want to continue learning all about natural hair care? Learn moreHow to care for your hair in summer: 7 tips for healthy hair.
Taking care of your hair in summer is important to have healthy and shiny hair when you return from vacation! Sun, wind, salt or chlorine can make them dry and brittle but by following our tips for healthy hair, you can keep their natural beauty intact! Index Postpone hair color change Care for colored hair Choose soft hairstyles Protect your hair Always rinse your hair Hair restructuring treatment Try giving up the hair dryer Postpone hair color change Do you feel it's time for a change of color? It might be better to wait ! If you're thinking of a drastic change, postpone your hairdresser appointment for a few weeks. After a color change, your hair needs time and care to regain its vitality and it's best not to stress it too much before the holidays. This is especially true if you plan to lighten your hair: the sun has a lightening effect and you risk the dye fading over time. Your red might turn orange and your blonde might turn yellow sooner than expected, so why not wait? Care of colored hair Colored and treated hair needs specific treatments all year round and especially in summer, due to the lightening power of the sun. By using a shampoo (and maybe a mask) specific to your hair type, you keep the color alive for longer, prevent it from fading sooner than expected and combat dry hair. I recommend the Yu Gentle Shampoo for all hair types , a cleanser rich in hydrating , soothing and emollient ingredients, with very delicate surfactants that effectively cleanse the scalp and hair, while fully respecting the hydrolipidic film. It is also excellent thanks to its anti-frizz action and its ability to keep dryness and irritation at bay. Perfect for frequent use , it is ready to accompany your summer hair routine with delicacy and effectiveness! Pair it with YU's Disciplining Mask Conditioner , a 2in1 cosmetic, perfect for your hair routine on holiday, which allows you to have a complete treatment for your hair in just one bottle. Used as a conditioner after shampoo, it effectively detangles hair and restores the hair's pH, ensuring softness and shine. Use it as a post-shampoo mask , extending the application time from 3-4 minutes to 15 minutes, to obtain a more intense nourishing, hydrating, anti-frizz action. Choose soft hairstyles Buns are essential for dealing with the heat, but I recommend avoiding high ponytails, chignons and tight buns that pull your hair, damaging it from root to tip. You prefer low ponytails, soft braids, messy updos that softly frame your face. To put even less stress on your hair, replace the classic elastic bands with hair bands , fabric hair ties or clips . Protect your hair When you are at the beach or walking in the sun, remember to protect your scalp with hats or bandanas . To protect the lengths you can instead use a heat protectant to protect the hair from the heat. You can also use it when you come back from the beach, to protect your hair from the heat of the hairdryer ! My favorite is the Esmeralda Cosmetics heat protector , in the summer version that smells of the Sardinian sea and illuminates your hair with golden shimmers. Always rinse your hair Always rinse your hair with fresh water after swimming in the sea or pool: salt and chlorine dry out your hair and this leads to frizz and breakage. Rinse thoroughly, without rubbing, and then complete your routine at home by washing your hair with a hydrating post-beach shampoo. : removes salt and hydrates hair and scalp. Hair restructuring treatment To restructure your hair, use a serum with keratin, proteins, biotin and peptides to plump the hair fiber and restructure it thoroughly. You can try the Yuniwa Cosmetics Hair Filler plumping serum , a panacea for fragile and lifeless hair. Try giving up the hair dryer For the well-being of your hair , try to do without the hairdryer : air drying does not stress your hair and also helps you avoid frizz! If you don't want to give up curls , try a heat-free styling method, such as the band method . Now that you know how to take care of your hair in summer, don't miss our guide to winter hair care ! Learn moreHair loss: tips and natural remedies
Hair loss is a natural and physiological process: every day we lose between 40 and 120 hairs but don't panic, it's all normal. This hair loss is in fact part of the hair renewal cycle and, under normal conditions, the hair that falls out is replaced by new hair in the growth phase. In spring and autumn, however, we can notice a greater loss of hair: this is the seasonal fall where we can lose up to 200 hairs a day. Even in this case, it is a physiological phenomenon that tends to disappear on its own within a few weeks. Index Why does hair fall out? Causes of hair loss Natural remedies for hair loss Anti-hair loss compresses Why does hair fall out? Hair has a life cycle that lasts from 2 to 6 years , during which it grows and develops inside the hair follicle. In the last months of life, the hair stops growing and enters a "resting phase". At the end of this cycle, the hair is pushed away by the new hair growing underneath it, in the same follicle . A true continuous renewal, in which every hair that falls out is replaced by a new one that grows! In some periods of the year, the shedding is more conspicuous : this is a reminder of our ancestral life, which recalls the moulting of animals' fur and, if you have a dog or a cat at home, you know well what I'm talking about! Seasonal shedding occurs twice a year, in autumn between September and November and in spring between April and May. Causes of hair loss As I mentioned, under normal conditions, hair loss is not a cause for concern because growing hair replaces the hair that falls out. However, there may be factors that prevent natural replacement , leading to more abundant loss or slower regrowth. Factors that can influence hair loss include: genetic predisposition; period of physical or psychological stress ; post-pregnancy and breastfeeding; drastic and unbalanced diets , with mineral deficiencies; hormonal changes; very heavy menstrual cycle ; skin conditions, such as seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis; thyroid diseases ; frequent bleaching, incorrect use of hair dryers and straighteners; smoke; trichotillomania, a disorder that leads to uncontrolled hair pulling; If you notice particularly heavy hair loss, with areas of thinning hair or areas prone to alopecia, the first advice is to see a doctor. The trichologist is the doctor specialized in the treatment of hair problems, who will be able to indicate the right treatments for your case. Natural remedies for hair loss Precisely because hair loss is a completely natural phenomenon, there are no methods to stop it permanently. What we can do, however, is to keep our body and scalp healthy, so as to help our hair follicles produce strong, healthy hair. The best way to combat hair loss is to start with your diet : follow a balanced diet and choose foods rich in vitamins A, E, C and minerals. Drink plenty of water and don't forget to include seasonal fruit and vegetables in your diet. Use localized treatments to combat hair loss, such as Hair Tonic Yuniwa Cosmetics , a treatment with revitalizing and anti-hair loss active ingredients. With the first cold weather have you noticed that your hair is drier , with broken ends and seems to get dirty more quickly? In this article I talk to you about the effects of cold on hair and I explain how to pamper your hair when temperatures drop. Index Why the cold ruins your hair How to protect your hair from the cold Natural remedies to protect hair from the cold Why the cold ruins your hair In the cold , hair undergoes various types of stress that can make it appear drier and more damaged. The cold acts on the hydrolipidic film of the hair, making it thicker and making the hair stiff, dry and with split ends. Wind can also cause knots and worsen frizz, especially if you have wavy or curly hair. Wind can also increase rubbing between your hair , especially if you are used to leaving it loose; rubbing can damage the hair cuticles, making them more fragile and split ends can appear. To the damage caused by the climate, are added those of smog and pollution , which make hair dull and damaged. How to protect your hair from the cold To protect your hair from the cold and keep it soft and healthy, here are a few simple tips to follow: Don't overdo it with washing : washing your hair too frequently or with products that are too aggressive can weaken your hair and make it dry and arid. To protect my hair from the cold, my favorite wash is co-wash , which cleanses my hair without attacking it. If you don't have the patience to use a co-wash and prefer a simpler product to use, I recommend preparing a mix with 10 ml of Shampoo Gel , 10 ml of Strengthening Pack , 10 ml of Rosemary Hydrolate . Mix to emulsify the ingredients well and apply to wet skin. This is a very delicate, super-hydrating and strengthening cleansing mix ! avoid high temperatures : excessive heat damages hair and scalp. Do not use too hot water when washing your hair, set the hair dryer to medium temperature and speed, reduce the use of straighteners and curling irons as much as possible! use a hat : a hat protects your hair from wind, humidity and pollution. Use a hat made of natural fibres that does not tighten on your head so as not to hinder circulation. Natural remedies to protect hair from the cold To combat dryness, increase the pampering for your hair. If you love herbs , go for those rich in mucilage like fenugreek and marshmallow. Combine them with hydrating ingredients like gel and honey, so as to counteract the dryness caused by herbs. If you prefer a ready-made product , choose a restructuring conditioner or a restructuring mask , which helps you nourish your hair and keep it healthy. You can also choose a leave-in with a protective and plumping action, such as Hair Filler Yuniwa Cosmetics , a light milk, rich in nourishing, strengthening, plumping and protective active ingredients for lengths and ends. Pre-shampoo packs with vegetable oils are excellent, perfect for dry and damaged lengths and ends. Wet your hair, pour a few drops of oil into the palm of your hand and apply it to your hair. Cover with a cap and leave on for at least 40 minutes before shampooing. You can also apply the oil on your scalp and you can take advantage of it to do a scalp massage that stimulates microcirculation for healthier and shinier hair. All vegetable oils have nourishing and protective properties, but you can choose the oil that best suits your needs: Argan oil : nourishing and protective, gives shine and softness. Excellent for fragile and dry hair, thanks to the high content of fatty acids and vitamins. Jojoba Oil : Light and versatile, you can use it even if you have oily hair. It combats dry ends, but also helps balance sebum production. Avocado oil : super-nourishing, perfect if you have very dry, dull and brittle hair. Castor oil : very nourishing, you can also use it to massage the scalp as it is useful for combating hair loss.
