Characteristics of dry skin
Our skin is covered by a thin layer, the hydrolipidic film , which protects it from external aggressions and agents.
This barrier is composed of:
- 5% of molecules that hydrate the skin and retain water
- 95% of fatty substances that serve as a barrier.
When the hydrolipidic film is altered, the skin becomes dry and rough , loses elasticity and dullness and wrinkles begin to appear.
Among the causes of dry skin we find genetic and environmental factors, but also bad habits such as the use of aggressive or low-quality cosmetics, the lack of hydrating products in the routine, incorrect exposure to the sun's rays.
Recognizing dry skin
Dry skin is thin and inelastic, rough to the touch and dull to the eye.
Pores are almost invisible, blackheads and pimples are very rare but redness or chapped areas often appear, especially around the nose and lips.
After cleansing the skin feels " tight " and there may be an itching sensation.
This type of skin is prone to signs of premature aging, such as fine lines around the eyes and mouth.
Skincare dry skin
The skincare routine for dry skin that I propose will help you restore the correct level of hydration for your skin, re-establish the hydrolipidic film and reduce redness. This routine helps you to:
- keep the skin elastic, to make wrinkles less deep and evident
- improve cell turnover, to combat skin dullness
- free the skin from excess toxins, which cause irritation and inflammation
- rebalance sebum production to limit redness and dryness
Below you will find all the steps for dry skin skincare: remember, it is important to choose the right products and, above all, use them consistently, in a small daily ritual for the well-being of your skin.
Make-up remover
A good skincare routine starts with the removal of makeup and impurities, leaving the skin free to absorb all the nutrients it needs.
To remove makeup without stressing your skin, use a makeup-removing balm that, thanks to the high percentage of oils in the formula, dissolves makeup and leaves skin soft and smooth.
Cleansing Balm Yuniwa Cosmetics is a gentle make-up remover for face and eyes that removes make-up gently, without rubbing.
Gently massage onto dry skin to remove makeup and impurities. Wet with water to transform the balm into milk and rinse everything off easily, without oily residue.
Cleansing Balm is perfect as a makeup remover for dry skin because, unlike other makeup remover butters, you can remove it just with water, without scrubbing!
In fact, when in contact with water, it transforms into a light milk, which rinses off easily, without residues.
Avocado Oil combats dryness and nourishes the skin; rich in vitamins and mineral salts, it recharges the skin, keeping it soft and elastic. Amla, Chamomile and Mallow have a soothing action to combat irritation and redness.
Detergent
Once you have removed your makeup, we move on to cleansing. If you have not used makeup or if you are on your morning routine, this will be your first step.
The right cleanser for dry skin must be gentle and easy to rinse, with delicate active ingredients and a slightly acidic pH, which respects the hydrolipidic film and helps regulate sebum production. Avoid leave-on products , which can settle on the skin causing irritation and impurities.
Yuniwa Cosmetics Facial Mousse is a soft and delicate cleanser, which helps maintain the skin's hydration.
Wet your face with warm water, take a pump of product and gently massage into slightly damp skin for about 60 seconds. Rinse with cool water and pat dry gently.
The Face Mousse is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, a super-hydrating active ingredient that keeps the skin soft and smooth, preventing dryness and expression lines; it contains Blueberry Extracts, which protect the skin's microcirculation, reducing redness and counteracting the effects of oxidative stress. Calendula Extracts have a soothing action against itching and irritation.
Extra tip: try Double Cleansing
If you have dry skin, try double cleansing at least once a week! This practice comes from Korean skincare and is perfect for a more thorough cleansing for all skin types.
As the name suggests, it is a two-phase cleansing:
- oily cleansing, which acts by affinity: using Cleansing Balm
- foaming cleansing, which acts by contrast: using the Face Mousse
Tonic
After cleansing, use an alcohol-free toner to restore balance to your skin. Spray onto dry skin and pat gently until absorbed.
Chamomile Hydrolate is perfect as a tonic for dry, sensitive skin, with redness or rosacea.
Chamomile has a soothing action and is rich in mucilage, which hydrates the skin and fights dehydration. It also has excellent anti-inflammatory properties and is therefore excellent for fighting redness, itching and irritation.
Extra Tip : Use it as a mist
Always carry chamomile hydrolate with you and spray it when needed if your skin feels dry and tight. You can also use it over makeup: in this case, spray it at a distance of at least 30 cm from your face.
Hydration
Dry skin tends to lose water and therefore become dehydrated; therefore it is essential to moisturize the skin with products that can be easily absorbed and can relax and plump.
An essential product in a skincare for dry skin is certainly hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a super-hydrating active ingredient that is normally produced by our skin: over time, however, our body is able to produce less and less of it and it is therefore essential to integrate it into our skincare, so as to always have well-hydrated skin.
Multiple molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid is perfect for keeping the skin hydrated for a long time: each molecular weight acts on a different layer of the epidermis, deeply hydrating for a deep hydrating action.
To enhance the action of Hyaluronic Acid, combine it with a hydrating facial booster, such as Hydra Booster , a super hydrating facial serum that contains Natural Hydrating Factors, a mix of ingredients naturally present in our skin, which maintain hydration.
Use it after toner, just 2 or 3 drops and gently massage until absorbed. You can also use it in addition to your face cream and before sunscreen, to keep your skin hydrated and smooth.
Hydra Booster also contains Brewer's Yeast extracts, which improve the health of the skin barrier, to protect the skin from external aggressions.
Nourish dry skin
Dry skin also needs to be nourished with oily ingredients, which regenerate the skin and restore the hydrolipidic film.
You can use in your skincare a face cream for dry skin, rich in nourishing active ingredients such as shea butter, argan oil, rosehip oil, which keep the skin soft and elastic.
A great solution to nourish dry skin is to use an oil, to be applied to wet skin; facial oils without the addition of preservatives are perfect even for the driest, most sensitive and delicate skin.
The Multiactive Oil is a mix of 9 precious vegetable oils, such as Argan oil which restructures the skin, Rosa Mosqueta oil with anti-aging and reconstitutive action, Andiroba oil with high anti-inflammatory power.
In this facial oil for dry skin, you will find the precious CBD extract, a powerful natural anti-inflammatory, which combats skin irritations, redness, itching and irritation and is perfect for the treatment of dry, sensitive and delicate skin.
All you need is 2-3 drops of oil, apply to damp skin and massage until absorbed. You can mix 3 drops of oil and 3 drops of Hydra Booster in the palm of your hand to obtain a hydrating, soothing and smoothing treatment for dry skin.
Sun protection
Incorrect exposure to the sun's rays leads to increased dryness of the skin and, especially in the case of dry skin, can lead to the early formation of deep wrinkles and sun spots.
If you spend a lot of time outdoors, use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or 50 during the day.
The Face and Body Sun Protection Fluid ensures adequate skin protection from UVA and UVB rays. Formulated only with physical filters, it is enriched with antioxidant ingredients (vitamin C and vitamin E), nourishing ingredients (sunflower oil, olive oil) and soothing ingredients (bisabolol).
Extra Treatments
We have just seen the daily steps for the skincare routine for dry skin. However, there are other periodic steps of skincare such as exfoliation and face mask.
Face scrub dry skin
Exfoliation is an important part of skincare, because it helps remove dead cells and impurities, leaving the skin firmer and brighter; exfoliation also helps you improve the performance of skincare treatments, since the active ingredients in our cosmetics will be able to work at their best.
You can exfoliate dry skin with a dry skin scrub, with mechanical granules, or with a dry skin peel, which works through the action of acids or enzymes.
Use your product after cleansing, on dry and clean skin; exfoliation should be done according to the needs of your skin, usually once a week in case of dry skin.
Dry skin face mask
For an intensive treatment, use a face mask specifically for dry skin. Face masks for dry skin contain soothing, nourishing and hydrating ingredients for the well-being of your skin.
The dry skin face mask with white clay has a purifying action and regulates the production of sebum, leaving the skin purified and luminous. Rice starch, zinc oxide and chamomile extracts soothe redness and irritation, while hyaluronic acid and vegetable oils nourish and hydrate.
Apply the mask immediately after the scrub, on dry skin, so you can take full advantage of all the active ingredients!
Did you know that you can make a DIY dry skin face mask with simple ingredients?
All you need is a ripe avocado and a few drops of oil for an avocado face mask: it contains folic acid and vitamins, increases elasticity and reduces wrinkles.
Mash the fruit pulp and add a few drops of oil to enhance the treatment: Multi-Active Oil or even olive oil are perfect! Apply the mask on dry skin and leave for 15 minutes; remove everything with a pad or sponge and proceed with your routine starting with the toner!
