Index Anti-pollution skincare routine Extra tips for your anti-pollution skincare Smog and fine dust are unhealthy for our bodies, including our skin! According to recent studies, pollution is one of the most harmful factors for skin health, second only to solar radiation. There are particles, such as fine dust that are 10 to 20 times smaller than a pore in our skin ; their tiny size causes them to penetrate the skin, clogging pores and increasing oxidative stress. Continuous exposure to smog and pollution can cause premature aging , the appearance of impurities , acne , eczema , blemishes . Smog also contributes to altering the skin's pH , thus putting its natural protective barrier function to the test, exposing us to the appearance of dry skin and redness. Anti-pollution skincare routine Cleansing is the main step in any self-respecting skincare routine and this is even more true when we are dealing with an anti-pollution skincare routine: we need to remove the impurities accumulated during the day from the skin's pores with a gentle cleanser , to avoid further attacking the skin. Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disease that is chronic and relapsing but not contagious. Psoriasis is a common and widespread disease, with no direct relationship to sex or age. Its development is related to both autoimmune, genetic and environmental factors. Index Symptoms and forms of psoriasis The most common causes of psoriasis Remedies for psoriasis Natural cosmetics for psoriasis Symptoms and forms of psoriasis Psoriasis appears as patches of red or white scaly skin. It has a cyclical course with acute phases (also called exacerbation phase, in which the symptoms are severe) and remission phases (the symptoms are mild or non-existent). The plaques and spots on the skin of psoriasis are not to be confused with the dry patches of xerosis cutis, they are different on a biological level. Those of psoriasis are spots classified as erythro scaly, that is, they involve both the blood vessels and the deeper layers of the skin. Several forms of psoriasis are recognized: Plaque Psoriasis (Psoriasis Vulgaris) is the most common form, accounting for about 80% of cases. Red patches, often swollen due to inflammation and covered with a white layer of flaky skin. These lesions are usually found on the knees and elbows, scalp, and lower back. Guttate psoriasis is characterized by "guttate lesions": small, red, flat spots that appear on the body or limbs. Inverse Psoriasis presents as red, smooth, shiny patches. It appears mainly in the folds of the skin: the armpits, groin, or under the breasts or buttocks. Pustular psoriasis occurs in adults and is characterized by pus-filled blisters. Erythrodermic psoriasis is inflammatory in nature and often affects most of the skin surface causing widespread redness with scaling of large areas of skin. The most common causes of psoriasis The main cause of psoriasis is a defect in cell growth and its basis is genetic predisposition. Other causes are Inflammatory reactions both in the deep layer of the dermis and in the layers of the epidermis High rate of turnover of keratinocytes (predominant cell in the skin). An altered process of sloughing off dead cells The factors that trigger these causes are Genetic factors Bacterial infections. Bacteria, and in particular Streptococcus, are the most frequent pathogens. Psychological stress can trigger psoriasis and even worsen the condition Some medications, including lithium, antimalarials, and certain high blood pressure medications, can trigger psoriasis. Remedies for psoriasis> Topical medications as a remedy for psoriasis The most common therapies for acute psoriasis are topical pharmacological products that contain corticosteroids and keratolytic agents that soften and dissolve the stratum corneum of the epidermis. It remains very important if not indispensable to use creams and natural remedies for psoriasis, especially in the remitting phase, to lengthen the time between this and the acute phase. Natural cosmetics for psoriasis Moisturizing and emollient creams are used both during the remission phase and as a complementary treatment in the acute phase. Emollient creams, ointments and salves smooth the skin and reduce flaking. The ideal is the Repairing Ointment - Prima Pelle 30% by Latte e Luna , a treatment with a soothing and repairing action with a barrier effect, perfect for combating psoriasis irritation, also thanks to the strong antiseptic and sanitizing action given by pumpkin seeds. Moisturizing creams and gels are emollients enriched with natural moisturizing factors (NMF). You can try Yu's Calendula and Chamomile Soothing Gel , excellent in this case because it has an interesting healing and anti-aging action, fights redness and has soothing and refreshing properties. The daily and constant use of excellent moisturizing and emollient creams is very important to combat the symptoms of psoriasis. Do you want to know all the secrets for perfect skincare? In fact, it is thanks to this secretion that it can walk vertically! lubricate its body. This way it can move even on surfaces that are not perfectly flat without getting scratched. to keep away predators, who do not like this secretion at all. Finally, what is perhaps the pinnacle of the history of snail slime, is in Chile in the 80s. In that period, in fact, snail cultivations for food purposes proliferated. Seborrheic dermatitis is probably the most common of the sebaceous gland disorders . In fact, it affects approximately 5% of the world's population , with a higher concentration of males than females. Index What is seborrheic dermatitis Pre and post-shampoo organic treatments for seborrheic dermatitis Organic products for seborrheic dermatitis What is seborrheic dermatitis Seborrheic dermatitis is characterized by the presence of strong inflammation with red spots, scaling, itching and secretions . The area where it appears most frequently is the scalp , but it can also appear in the armpit area, the external genitals, the face and the ears. To date, we still do not know the main cause of seborrheic dermatitis and for this reason we are not currently able to cure it definitively. However, we know that there are factors that can make it worse: Stress Climate change Incorrect nutrition Unhealthy lifestyle Some pathologies Hormonal changes Frequent use of aggressive products Furthermore, we know that in areas of skin affected by seborrheic dermatitis we can find strains of Malassezia fungi, biologically definable as yeast. They are the main cause of redness and various itching. Yeasts tend to thrive in humidity, which is why seborrheic dermatitis treatments also include the elimination of nighttime or long-lasting compresses , to reduce the time spent with wet hair. Furthermore, seborrheic dermatitis is a clinical pathology and therefore must be treated with drugs appropriately prescribed by a dermatologist after a specialist visit. Only after you have treated seborrheic dermatitis with prescribed medications and slowed it down can you use organic products to keep it stable. Pre and post-shampoo organic treatments for seborrheic dermatitis Pre-shampoo organic treatments for seborrheic dermatitis are measures that you can apply before shampooing with a specific product. Here are some products you can use: Neem oil, which despite its unpleasant odor, is among the best organic treatments to apply before shampooing. Purifying scrub with neem Purifying lotion Scalp scrub Jojoba oil (typically sebum-regulating product) Calendula oil (typically soothing product) Here are some options you can use post-shampoo : Nourishing serum for scalp and hair Purifying scrub Repairing shampoo The advice is to alternate a specific shampoo for seborrheic dermatitis with a delicate and soothing one. Yuniwa Shampoo Gel would be perfect in this case, a delicate cleanser with a soothing action, which helps to calm inflammation and cleanse the skin and hair perfectly, without attacking. The conditioner , on the other hand, is not applied to the scalp but only to the hair, and will not affect skin irritated by seborrheic dermatitis. It is not yet possible to cure seborrheic dermatitis, but with a few small precautions you will be able to see the first improvements in a short time! Organic products for seborrheic dermatitis Among the organic products to treat seborrheic dermatitis there are also Ayurvedic herbs and infusions to add to compresses to strengthen their effect. The latter can be added instead of water to prepare Ayurvedic herbal compresses or to prepare gels. You can also use them to rinse yourself with an organic product capable of soothing and slowing down the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis! The best infusions to use in this area are: Tulsi , also known as holy basil Green tea Chamomile Marigold Ayurvedic herbs , on the other hand, have a different field of application. They can be used to prepare infusions (as for Tulsi) or to improve the quality of washing and rinsing instead of normal water as for Shikakai. Here is a list of the best Ayurvedic herbs that you can use for seborrheic dermatitis: Neem (already mentioned among the oils for its great properties against this dermatitis) Bhringraj Henna (the classic dyeing herb) Shikakai As you can see, there are many organic products for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis . But remember that none of these can replace a medical therapy appropriately prescribed by a specialist. They are treatments that will allow you to live better with this problem. Learn moreWhat is the difference between blackheads, whiteheads, sebaceous threads and enlarged pores?
Not all skin blemishes are the same. Different blemishes can appear on our skin, and the most common are blackheads, whiteheads, sebaceous filaments, and enlarged pores. In this article, I'll explain how to distinguish them and how to treat them to minimize blemishes and have healthier skin. In this article I'll explain what they are: The white dots Blackheads The sebaceous filaments Dilated pores The white dots Whiteheads , also known as closed comedones , are a type of non-inflammatory acne that tends to form on the face, neck, back, and arms. Except for some cases, where they may also be painful or itchy, whiteheads are simply unsightly. One might think of them as the precursors to acne. In fact, it happens that a whitehead, passing from the intermediate stage of blackhead, tends to pour its secretions inside and thus cause acne, an inflammation characterized by pus-filled pustules or papules. Causes, symptoms and remedies for whiteheads Whiteheads, like blackheads, are directly linked to the production of sebum by the sebaceous glands and to hormonal production , most frequently affecting young people during puberty and women with polycystic ovary syndrome. There are many other causes associated with whiteheads, among which the most common are: • Poor cleansing of the skin • Aggressive detergents or cosmetics • Stress • Inheritance • Hormonal changes (e.g. menstruation or pregnancy) • Prolonged exposure to UV rays • Incorrect nutrition Whiteheads can become infected or scarred. Even if left untreated, they often disappear spontaneously with simple daily routines, such as: change conventional cosmetics by avoiding silicone-based and comedogenic ones choose only natural and eco-friendly cosmetic products for your skin clean your face better check the power supply Be careful not to confuse the white dots with millet grains! Milia are microcysts caused by accumulations of sebum and keratin and should only be removed by a professional! A white dot on the left, grains of millet on the right Blackheads Blackheads, also known as open comedones, are very common skin blemishes among young people. They typically appear on areas with high sebaceous gland density, such as the back or face. Over time, a blackhead may regress or degenerate into bacterial inflammation. This is why they are also considered the precursors of acne, especially juvenile acne. Causes, symptoms and remedies for blackheads Blackheads form following the opening of whiteheads: lipid oxidation and the migration of melanin-rich cells determine the typical formation of the dark cap, hence the name "blackhead". There are many factors that can influence their appearance, and they often interact with each other. Improper skin cleansing can facilitate the appearance of blackheads, for example. They're also typical of puberty, and this is due to the increase in sex hormones (the main one being testosterone). Even some particularly greasy cosmetics can promote their presence. Removing blackheads by squeezing them between your fingers is the most common and riskiest remedy. It can lead to infection and scarring! It is possible to remove them without incurring these risks with other systems: • Natural cosmetic products with exfoliating action , capable of controlling and reducing excess sebum. • Dermo-aesthetic treatments • Deep cleansing of the skin with skin gritting • Medications, recommended when blackheads are persistent or prone to inflammation. However, starting a drug treatment without a dermatological examination is unthinkable. {"layoutMobile":2,"layoutDesktop":5,"buttonAlign":"Center","buttonText":"Go to product","productTitle":{"hue":213,"saturation":0,"brightness":0,"alpha":1},"priceColor":{"hue":0,"saturation":1,"brightness":0},"discountPrice":{"hue":356,"saturation":0.74,"brightness":1},"buttonCo lor":{"hue":26.67,"saturation":0.037,"brightness":0.9529,"alpha":1},"textBottomColor":{"hue":0,"satu ration":0,"brightness":0.018750000000000044,"alpha":1},"activeTitleButton":false,"moreProduct":"View all","moreProductUrl":"www.yumibio.com","rowNumber":1,"dynamicProductId":[{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977617396098","title":"AHA Facial Peeling - PHA","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"39.0","amountMin":"39.0","price":"39.00","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/53 29/4978/files/peeling-viso-aha-pha-yuniwa-cosmetics-yumibio-821.webp?v=1752509186&width=600","urlStore":"/products/peeling-viso-aha-pha","altImage":"Peeling Facial AHA - PHA - Yuniwa Cosmetics Exfoliating"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977169949058","title":"Holud - Anti-aging Face Mask for Combination and Oily Skin","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"16.11","amountMin":"16.11","price":"16.11","compareAtPrice":"17.90","imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/holud-maschera-viso-anti-age-per-pelle-mista-e-grassa-rasayana-yumibio-564.webp?v=1755859260&width=600","urlStore":"/products/holud-maschera-viso-anti-age-per-pelle-mista-e-grassa","altImage":"Holud - Face Mask Anti-aging for Combination and Oily Skin - Rasayana"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14976920912258","title":"Salicylic Acid - Pure Active Purifying and Sebum Regulator","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"9.4","amountMin":"9.4","price":"9.40","compareAtPrice":"9.90","imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/acido-salicilico-attivo-puro-purificante-e-seboregolatore-628.jpg?v=1751234582&width=600","urlStore":"/products/acido-salicilico-attivo-puro-purificante-e-seboregolatore","altImage":""},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977473937794","title":"Smoothing Lotion Sebo-Lift","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"15.0","amountMin":"15.0","price":"15.00","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/lozione-levigante-sebo-lift-domus-olea-toscana-yumibio-286.webp?v=1752710023&width=600","urlStore":"/products/lozione-levigante-sebo-lift","altImage":"Lozione Levigante Sebo-Lift - Domus Olea Toscana"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977021051266","title":"Face Mask Purifying","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"10.15","amountMin":"10.15","price":"10.15","compareAtPrice":"14.50","imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/09 06/5329/4978/files/maschera-viso-purificante-beonme-yumibio-542.webp?v=1752708097&width=600","urlStore":"/products/maschera-viso-purificante-1","altImage":"Maschera Purifying Facial - BeOnMe"}],"typeSearch":"product","device":"desktop","decimalsPrice":2,"aspectRatio":"3 / 4","isAutoPlay":false,"isNavigation":false,"isPriceDisplay":false,"rowDynamic":"mot","activeDecimals":false,"hidden":false,"locked":false,"positionPr ice":false,"currencyCodeCustom":"$","cssContent":"","isRemoveBranding":true,"componentId":"undefined","activeDynamicProd":true,"blockName":"Product"} AHA - PHA Facial Peeling EUR 39.00 Go to product Holud - Anti-aging Face Mask for Combination and Oily Skin EUR 16.11 EUR 17.90 Go to product Salicylic Acid - Pure Active Purifying and Sebum-Regulating EUR 9.40 EUR 9.90 Go to product Sebo-Lift Smoothing Lotion EUR 15.00 Go to product Purifying Face Mask EUR 10.15 EUR 14.50 Go to product The sebaceous filaments It's easy to confuse sebaceous filaments with whiteheads or blackheads. Sebaceous filaments are normal functions of the skin, designed to channel the flow of sebum along the pores. Sometimes they protrude, revealing part of the filamentous structure. They tend to appear clustered on the nose, cheeks, or chin and can be gray, flesh-colored, or whitish. Blackheads on the left, sebaceous filaments on the right Sebum, sebaceous filaments and treatments Sebum is composed of squalene, glycerides, waxes, cholesterol, and fatty acids. Its main function is to protect and hydrate the skin, forming part of the hydrolipidic film. It's important to understand, however, that there's no way to permanently eliminate sebaceous filaments. You can only try to contain them. To limit its release, you need to work on the amount of sebum present in the pores by cleaning them with charcoal , kaolin , or enzyme-based masks. Enzyme peels are also excellent for controlling sebum production and, consequently, the appearance of sebaceous filaments. 🌿 Tip from Daiana To manage blackheads and enlarged pores, I always recommend including exfoliation as a regular part of your routine, but don't overdo it. Alternating gentle exfoliants with purifying masks helps keep skin cleaner and more even, avoiding irritation. Remember: consistency and gentleness yield better results than aggressive cleansing. Dilated pores Enlarged pores are among the most common skin blemishes. Pores are actual openings in the skin, nearly invisible in size, that tend to coincide with the openings of the sebaceous glands. Pores are essential for the skin's perspiration and for keeping it supple and hydrated. When they become too dilated due to an obstruction, they become noticeable and unsightly. Causes and remedies for enlarged pores The main cause of dilated pores is oily skin resulting from overproduction of sebum . The pores themselves tend to dilate when they are unable to contain the excess waste substances and dead cells. Other causes may be: • Chronic acne • Seborrhea • Sex hormones • Genetic predisposition • UV rays • Poor skin care • Aging Treating enlarged pores can be complex, but sometimes all it takes is a change in diet and regular facial cleansing, even with scrubs 2-3 times a week. {"layoutMobile":2,"layoutDesktop":5,"buttonAlign":"Center","buttonText":"Go to product","productTitle":{"hue":213,"saturation":0,"brightness":0,"alpha":1},"priceColor":{"hue":0,"saturation":1,"brightness":0},"discountPrice":{"hue":356,"saturation":0.74,"brightness":1},"buttonCo lor":{"hue":26.67,"saturation":0.037,"brightness":0.9529,"alpha":1},"textBottomColor":{"hue":0,"satu ration":0,"brightness":0.018750000000000044,"alpha":1},"activeTitleButton":false,"moreProduct":"View all","moreProductUrl":"www.yumibio.com","rowNumber":1,"dynamicProductId":[{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977008992642","title":"Zinc and Niacinamide - Anti-aging Facial Serum Imperfections","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"13.9","amountMin":"13.9","price":"13.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/zinco-e-niacinamide-siero-viso-anti-imperfezioni-yuniwa-cosmetics-363.webp?v=1752479858&width=600","urlStore":"/products/zinco-e-niacinamide-siero-viso-anti-imperfezioni","altImage":"Zinc and Niacinamide - Anti-Imperfection Face Serum - Yuniwa Cosmetics"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/15010570371458","title":"Purify – Ultra Serum purifying","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"32.5","amountMin":"32.5","price":"32.50","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/purify-siero-ultra-purificante-setare-yumibio-834.jpg?v=1751273952&width=600","urlStore":"/products/purify-siero-ultra-purificante","altImage":"Purify – Ultra purifying serum - Setarè"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977605861762","title":"Balancing Day Fluid - Combination and Dry Skin Oily","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"34.0","amountMin":"34.0","price":"34.00","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/fluido-equilibrante-giorno-pelle-mista-e-grassa-dr-hauschka-yumibio-383.webp?v=1752508867&width=600","urlStore":"/products/fluido-equilibrante-giorno-pelle-mista-e-grassa","altImage":"Balancing Day Fluid - Combination and Oily Skin - Dr. Hauschka"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14976934019458","title":"Organic Anti-Imperfection Purifying Concentrate Vegan","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"8.33","amountMin":"8.33","price":"8.33","compareAtPrice":"9.80","imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/concentrato-purificante-anti-imperfezioni-bio-e-vegan-bioearth-yumibio-868.webp?v=1752684562&width=600","urlStore":"/products/concentrato-purificante-anti-imperfezioni-bio-e-vegan","altImage":"Concentrato Purificante Anti Imperfezioni Bio e Vegan - Bioearth"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977469677954","title":"RE:Purity Skin - Localized Anti-Blemish Treatment Imperfections","currencyCode":"EUR","amountMax":"11.9","amountMin":"11.9","price":"11.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/re-purity-skin-trattamento-localizzato-anti-imperfezioni-gyada-231.webp?v=1752697050&width=600","urlStore":"/products/re-purity-skin-trattamento-localizzato-anti-imperfezioni","altImage":"RE:Purity Skin - Localized Anti-Imperfection Treatment - Gyada Cosmetics"}],"typeSearch":"product","device":"desktop","decimalsPrice":2,"aspectRatio":"3 / 4","isAutoPlay":false,"isNavigation":false,"isPriceDisplay":false,"rowDynamic":"mot","activeDecimals":false,"hidden":false,"locked":false,"positionPr ice":false,"currencyCodeCustom":"$","cssContent":"","isRemoveBranding":true,"componentId":"undefined","activeDynamicProd":true,"blockName":"Product"} Zinc and Niacinamide - Anti-Blemish Facial Serum EUR 13.90 Go to product Purify – Ultra Purifying Serum EUR 32.50 Go to product Balancing Day Fluid - Combination and Oily Skin EUR 34.00 Go to product Organic and Vegan Purifying Anti-Imperfection Concentrate EUR 8.33 EUR 9.80 Go to product RE:Purity Skin - Localized Anti-Blemish Treatment EUR 11.90 Go to product Frequently Asked Questions How to distinguish a blackhead from a sebaceous filament? Skin gritting has been around for a while now, if you don't know about this technique yet, this is the article you were looking for! We will find out what this facial cleansing is and how to do it, perfect for combination and oily skin, which allows you to eliminate blackheads from the face in a simple and effective way! What is skin gritting? Skin Gritting is a perfect technique for combination and oily skin, especially impure skin, to perform a deep cleansing of the facial skin . This method allows for the easy and unsqueezing removal of blackheads , as well as cleansing the face of all impurities. It consists of two steps: the oil wash and the clay mask. Oil wash is a cleansing technique that works by affinity. Oil is a fat, just like the skin's sebum, and according to the affinity principle it is able to dissolve excess grease, fat and sebum as well as the dirt mixed with them. The clay mask is the purifying mask that we all know and that we have done at least once if we have combination or oily skin. Skin gritting combines these two methods and involves alternating them in three phases. How to do skin gritting As I was saying above, this method combines two very well-known cleansing methods in one effective sequence , to ensure you have super bright skin! You will need: a vegetable oil or a mix of oils clay a cloth for cosmetic use time to pamper yourself :) it will take at least 45 minutes First phase: oil wash Let's start with a cleansed and made-up face. Let's take our vegetable oil or mix of oils and massage our face for at least five minutes to make it work at its best! Use about a tablespoon of product, to ensure that the massage glides smoothly and that the oil can clean. Second phase: clay mask We take a soft cloth for cosmetic use and remove the oil delicately. We prepare our clay mask and spread it well, avoiding the eye contour and lip contour, which are very delicate areas. If you have oily skin, choose green clay which has anti-inflammatory, absorbent and healing properties. If you have combination or normal skin, choose pink or white clay, with a soothing and purifying action. Leave the clay mask on for 10-15 minutes. For skin gritting only, you need to let the mask dry on your skin. Third phase: oil massage We remove the clay mask with warm water and dry our face. Now we need to massage the skin of the face again with another spoonful of oil, this time for longer, let's say for about 10 minutes. Once the massage is finished, remove excess oil with the cloth. Now your skin will really start to clear out impurities. Blackheads, softened by the oil, with the skin "dried" by the mask and stimulated by movement, should come out without difficulty. Take a portion of skin between your fingers and pull gently , they will come out effortlessly and without squeezing the pore which should always be absolutely avoided! Now proceed with your usual skincare routine, toner, serum and face cream. Your skin will be beautifully soft and deeply cleansed! My advice is to do this cleansing in the evening, taking time to pamper yourself. The mechanical part of the massage is fundamental, it is not enough to apply the oil and go, you have to massage carefully. My extra tip To make this treatment more delicate, you can skip the clay face mask step or you can use a delicate one that does not dry on the skin. In this case, I recommend the White Clay Detox Mask , a cosmetic created to purify and remineralize the skin, suitable for all skin types. Extracts of Rocket, Tomato, Strawberry and Vitamin E recharge the skin with antioxidants and minerals, counteracting dryness and irritation. Learn moreWhat are blackheads and how to get rid of them
Blackheads are among the most common facial blemishes, usually found on the nose, forehead, and chin. Today we will see together how to eliminate blackheads in a natural and safe way for the skin and we will learn to distinguish them from other skin imperfections. What are blackheads? How do blackheads form? How to remove blackheads? How to prevent blackheads from forming? What are blackheads? Blackheads are small imperfections that form due to the accumulation of sebum, dead cells, keratin and bacteria inside the hair follicles. These accumulations lead to the formation of whiteheads (closed comedones) which can transform into blackheads (open comedones) ; this happens when the contents of these pockets come into contact with the air and oxidize, taking on the characteristic dark color. Be careful not to confuse blackheads with sebaceous filaments or dilated pores : if you don't know how to recognize them, here is the article in our magazine in which we talk about blackheads, whiteheads and sebaceous filaments . How do blackheads form? Blackheads are formed due to excessive sebum production or due to a change in the composition of sebum. Sebum is a very important element for the health of our skin, it is part of the hydro-lipid film that keeps it hydrated and protects it from infections and external attacks. Under normal conditions, sebum is fluid and transparent and coats the skin without clogging pores. However, it can happen that due to unhealthy lifestyles, a hormonal imbalance or incorrect skincare, sebum becomes thicker and oilier, and can accumulate in the pores, thus creating impurities. Among the most common causes of blackheads formation we find: oily and impure skin; lack of adequate skincare; use of overly aggressive exfoliants; failure to remove makeup; cigarette smoking, stress, unbalanced diet. How to remove blackheads? There are several ways to remove blackheads without popping , such as with blackhead masks or cosmetics that reduce the accumulation of impurities in the pores. Squeezing blackheads is an almost irresistible temptation, I know, but there are better remedies to remove blackheads on the nose ; squeezing blackheads also exposes the skin to the risk of infection and redness on already irritated skin. For clean skin, use a purifying charcoal face mask , enriched with Activated Charcoal, Rhassoul, White Clay and Vitamin C. It captures impurities present on the skin, frees pores from excess sebum and helps regulate sebum production. The active ingredients in the formulation help reduce blackheads and imperfections and remineralise the skin for an even and luminous complexion. BUY NOW My advice is to apply it after the shower, the sauna or after leaving a warm towel on your face for a few minutes: this way the skin will be softer and it will be easier to remove impurities! Among the natural remedies for blackheads , clay cannot be missed: an excellent way to remove blackheads at home is a green clay face mask that removes impurities and has a detox action on the skin. For even greater effectiveness, combine the clay mask with a massage with vegetable oil using the skin gritting technique. If you don't know how to do it, find out in my skin gritting guide, for a deep facial cleansing with oil and clay. How to prevent blackheads from forming To prevent the appearance of blackheads, start here: remove your makeup every night before going to sleep. If you're wondering, no, wipes aren't enough! Use a makeup remover and always remember to rinse. follow a correct skincare routine : use effective and delicate products, suitable for your skin type. Avoid products that are too purifying, they could stimulate the production of sebum even more! Exfoliate your skin regularly , with a product that is right for you. Enzyme peeling or facial scrub, remember to exfoliate regularly, to combat the accumulation of dead cells. For blackheads, products based on salicylic acid are excellent. Don't touch your face during the day: dirty hands lead to the accumulation of bacteria on the skin and the formation of impurities. Was this article helpful? Learn moreHow to recognize your skin type
Recognizing your skin type is the first step to creating a personalized skincare program that meets your needs. The skin is the largest organ of our body, it protects us from external agents and makes us recognizable from everyone: did you know that every skin is unique and has its own characteristic odor? Skin type is mainly determined at the genetic level, but the condition of the skin can be influenced by several factors such as : age change of season time of day diet stress hormones Let's see together how to recognize your skin type and learn to recognize the different types of skin. How to recognize your skin type? How to recognize oily skin? Oily seborrheic skin Oily greasy skin Impure oily skin with acne proneness Combination skin Oily asphyxiated skin How to recognize dry or sensitive skin? How to recognize normal skin? How to recognize your skin type? To get a first idea of your skin type you can do a very quick and easy test . Take a cotton pad and wipe it over your dry face : if there are traces of oil on the pad, your skin is probably oily or combination. If the pad remains clean, you probably have normal or dry skin. We can then do a more in-depth test to recognize the skin type . I recommend doing this test when you are at home relaxing, on a cool day where you are not likely to sweat. Cleanse your face with cleansing milk, so as not to dry your skin. Rinse thoroughly and pat your skin dry. Do not apply anything to your face for 30 minutes and proceed to observe your skin. How to recognize oily skin? You can recognize oily skin by the widespread layer of sebum that makes it oily. You can recognize this type of skin like this: it is greasy to the touch and leaves an oily residue on the fingers; there are blackheads, whiteheads and pimples all over the face; the pores are dilated and clearly visible; the skin is dull and opaque. Despite the excess sebum, this is a very delicate skin type that needs a thorough but respectful and delicate cleansing. Oily skin can be of different types, with different needs and characteristics. Oily seborrheic skin In this type of skin, sebum production is intense and continuous and leads to dilation of the pores, especially on the cheeks and cheekbones, which generates an "orange peel" skin. If you have this type of skin, a medical consultation is necessary to understand what is causing the hyperproduction of sebum . Once you understand the origin of the problem, it will be easy to understand the right path to solve it at the root. Oily greasy skin Even in this type of oily skin, sebum production is increased, but it is a fluid and oily sebum that gives the skin a shiny appearance. In these cases, you can use a skincare for oily skin with an abstinent, purifying and sebum-regulating action. Impure oily skin with acne proneness In this type of skin, there is an imbalance in the skin microbiota and the "good" bacteria are unable to counteract the action of pathogenic bacteria such as Propionibacterium acnes, the bacterium responsible for acne. In this case I recommend a skincare product for acne-prone skin, which purifies the skin and reduces inflammation. Combination skin In the case of combination skin, we find areas on the face with different characteristics: there are areas that tend to be oily (the famous "T-zone": forehead, nose, chin) and dry areas. In the T-zone, the skin appears shiny and tends to form blackheads and impurities; on the cheeks, however, the skin is dry and tight and rosacea may be present. Skincare for combination skin includes soothing products for the entire face and localized treatments with a purifying action such as pure active ingredients and boosters. Oily asphyxiated skin Asphyxiated skin produces waxy, compact sebum that cannot escape from the follicles. The surface layer of the skin appears dry and lacking in hydration; the occlusion of the follicles causes the accumulated sebum to form whiteheads, pimples or sebaceous cysts. Asphyxiated skin is difficult to recognize, precisely because of the contrasting symptoms: dry to the touch, but impure, shiny and oily. Asphyxiated skin can be caused by hormonal disorders, an incorrect lifestyle or even the use of cosmetics that are not suitable for your skin or a skincare routine that is too aggressive. Skincare for asphyxiated skin is delicate but enriched with exfoliating and balancing active ingredients, to combat skin thickening, accumulations of dead cells and impurities. How to recognize dry or sensitive skin? You can recognize dry skin by the sensation of skin that "tightens" after cleansing; this type of skin needs to be nourished and protected with the right cosmetics, since the amount of sebum it can produce is not enough to keep it elastic and healthy. Dry skin can be of two different types: dehydrated skin , caused by the lack of natural hydrating factors, which help retain water. You can recognize it by the feeling of tension on the face and the lack of elasticity, by the dry appearance and the tendency to crack. It can present blackheads and blemishes. alipidic skin , caused by the lack of epidermal lipids which form the skin's protective barrier. You can recognize it by its delicate, thin texture, with almost invisible pores, the sensation of tension and itching. Blackheads and blemishes are very rare, but there may be fine wrinkles and redness due to changes in climate or psycho-physical stress. The skincare routine for dry skin is gentle, soothing and rich in hydrating active ingredients (such as Hyaluronic Acid and NMF) and ingredients that help the skin restore its natural barrier function. Sensitive skin is a reactive and delicate skin, which often presents redness, irritation and rashes. All it takes is the wrong cleanser to irritate the skin and feel uncomfortable. The skincare routine for sensitive skin includes hydrating products, but above all nourishing and soothing, with ingredients that actively protect it from stress. How to recognize normal skin? Normal skin is very rare among adults, due to hormonal influences, hectic lifestyles, poor diet and many other factors that, as we have seen, affect the health of the skin. Normal skin is skin that does not present any of the problems we have seen for oily skin or dry skin: the production of sebum is regular, the skin does not tighten and appears smooth and even. Even after cleansing it remains soft, the pores are of normal size and imperfections are rare and occasional. Skincare for normal skin is gentle and hydrating, to preserve the natural well-being of your skin. Now that you know your skin type, it's time to find the right skincare routine for you .
