Facial Boosters: What They Are and How to Use Them Best
Facial boosters are special, highly concentrated skincare treatments. Each booster contains a specific active ingredient or mix of ingredients in concentrations that are usually higher than those you normally find in serums and creams. Facial boosters allow you to adapt your skincare to the needs of your skin , which may be different from day to day or based on the different areas of your face. For example, if you have dry skin in some areas of your face and oily in others , you can customize your routine by using hydrating and purifying facial boosters on the different areas. How to match facial boosters Which facial boosters should you use to prevent wrinkles? Which facial boosters to use for skin blemishes? Which facial boosters to use for impure skin? Which facial boosters should I use for dry, sensitive skin with redness? Which facial boosters to use for mature skin? How to match facial boosters Once you have chosen the facial booster that best suits your needs, you can use it: pure on cleansed and toned skin; in addition to your serum or cream. As with all skincare products, the order in which you apply the products is important. Even with boosters, you need to take the texture of the product into account : apply the lighter, water-based products first, followed by the more full-bodied products containing oils. In addition to this simple rule, the pH of the cosmetic should also be taken into account: we should apply products with a more acidic pH first and then products with a pH more similar to that of the skin. It is not always possible to know the pH of a product, but we can follow a general rule based on the ingredients: products containing AHA (glycolic, mandelic, lactic acid), BHA (salicylic acid) and vitamin C have a generally acidic pH and should therefore be applied first; Products containing Niacinamide and Retinol have a more neutral pH and should therefore be applied last. Also be careful not to put products with very different pHs one after the other, for example first a facial booster with glycolic acid and then one with niacinamide because the skin could become sensitive and irritated. In these cases, the best solution is to use them in separate routines, for example one in the morning and one in the evening. Which facial boosters should you use to prevent wrinkles? If you have young skin and want to keep it hydrated to combat dryness, first wrinkles and fine lines on your face, the perfect combo for you is Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C: multi-molecular weight hyaluronic acid keeps skin hydrated and works on multiple levels to plump and combat dryness; Vitamin C brightens skin and helps protect it from the damage of oxidative stress that causes premature skin aging. You can use these boosters together in the morning and evening or you can alternate them if you prefer. {"layoutMobile":2,"layoutDesktop":3,"buttonAlign":"Center","buttonText":"Go to product","productTitle":{"hue":213,"saturation":0,"brightness":0,"alpha":1},"priceColor":{"hue":0,"saturation":1,"brightness":0},"discountPrice":{"hue":356,"saturation":0.74,"brightness":1},"buttonCo lor":{"hue":26.67,"saturation":0.037,"brightness":0.9529,"alpha":1},"textBottomColor":{"hue":0,"satu ration":0,"brightness":0.018750000000000044,"alpha":1},"activeTitleButton":false,"moreProduct":"View all","moreProductUrl":"cesbgg-kq.myshopify.com","rowNumber":1,"dynamicProductId":[{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977472496002","title":"Acido Ialuronico - Siero viso idratante","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"13.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/acido-ialuronico-siero-viso-idratante-yuniwa-cosmetics-yumibio-935.webp?v=1752493973&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/acido-ialuronico-siero-viso-idratante","altImage":"Acido Ialuronico - Siero viso idratante - Yuniwa Cosmetics"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977472528770","title":"Vitamina C - Siero viso Antiossidante","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"13.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/vitamina-c-siero-viso-antiossidante-yuniwa-cosmetics-yumibio-241.webp?v=1752483687&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/vitamina-c-siero-viso-antiossidante","altImage":"Vitamina C - Siero viso Antiossidante - Yuniwa Cosmetics"}],"typeSearch":"product","device":"desktop","decimalsPrice":2,"aspectRatio":"3 / 4","isAutoPlay":false,"isNavigation":false,"isPriceDisplay":false,"rowDynamic":"mot","activeDecimals":false,"hidden":false,"locked":false,"positionPrice":false,"currencyCodeCustom":"$","activeDynamicProd":true,"blockName":"Product"} Acido Ialuronico - Siero viso idratante EUR 13.90 Go to product Vitamina C - Siero viso Antiossidante EUR 13.90 Go to product Which facial boosters to use for skin blemishes? Learn moreWhat does comedogenic mean and comedogenic ingredients
Comedogenic is a term we often read, but what does it mean? And what are the ingredients classified as comedogenic? Who should pay attention to them? Comedogenic: the meaning Comedogenic ingredients are all those ingredients that cause or facilitate comedogenesis on the skin, or the appearance of blackheads. Comedogenesis Comedogenesis , which literally means the birth of comedones (blackheads), is a process in our body and is closely related to sebaceous hyperplasia, or the excess of sebocytes, the cells that form the sebaceous glands. The latter are present almost all over the body but are particularly concentrated on the face and in the T-zone - chin, nose, forehead. Their job is to produce sebum that lubricates our skin and protects it by forming a barrier. Sebum mixes with pollution, dust, environmental dirt, dead skin cells then begins the process that leads to the formation of blackheads. It is not a fast inflammation process, like acne, it is a slow process that lasts several days. Comedogenesis can have several linked causes , some have internal origins, for example hormonal activity and genetic predisposition, or have external origins and one of these is linked to cosmetics. Fatty acids , substances that mainly compose oils , enter the follicular duct and block it, preventing the sebum from exiting easily, which then accumulates and forms blackheads. Comedogenic ingredients When we talk about comedogenic ingredients we are referring to fatty acids, oils and waxes that create a film on our skin and that are likely to create blackheads by triggering the process of comedogenesis. It should be noted, however, that the start of the process depends mainly on your skin type and the interaction with a particular ingredient, so you should try and also take into account the season, hot or cold. When it is hot, the skin produces more sebum and needs less external help, unlike when temperatures are lower: if it is hot, the skin produces more sebum, when it is cold, however, less because the cold dries out and the skin needs more protection. Is an oil always comedogenic? Vegetable oils, except jojoba, are made up of more than 95% fatty acids but with different molecular weights. The molecular weight determines the melting point and therefore the liquid or solid state at room temperature. All fluid oils such as almond, olive, linseed, rosehip, argan are potentially non-comedogenic. Furthermore, if some oils are applied individually and can lead to the formation of blackheads in a given period, it is not certain that if inserted in the formulation of the cosmetic they will lead to the same consequence. But then what are comedogenic ingredients? As we were saying, there are potentially comedogenic ingredients and ingredients that are almost certainly considered comedogenic. All vegetable oils have a comedogenic potential but not significant, and the possible comedogenesis depends most of the time on the type of skin, climatic conditions and the quantities applied. Synthetic ingredients, on the other hand, are completely occlusive for pores and are very likely to generate blackheads and imperfections. We are talking about paraffins, petrolatums, silicones and mineral oils: Liquid paraffin Petrolatum Mineral oil Microcrystalline wax Heavy silicones These comedogenic ingredients are contained in large quantities in conventional cosmetics. If your skin is prone to blackheads and other imperfections, choose suitable products like those we recommend in our skincare routine for oily skin.
Learn morePeptides: What They Are and Why Use Them
Have you heard of peptides ? They are the latest generation ingredients in the world of anti-aging cosmetics, true allies for younger and more toned skin. Peptides are naturally found in our bodies and play a key role in keeping skin toned, elastic and firm. What are peptides? Think of peptides as tiny messengers that communicate with your skin cells. When multiple peptides join together, they form proteins like collagen, elastin, and keratin. These proteins are essential to our skin because they give it tone and elasticity, fighting wrinkles and sagging skin. Why include peptides in cosmetics? Applied to the skin, peptides act in several ways: They stimulate the production of collagen and elastin: these two elements are responsible for the structure and support of the skin. With age, their production decreases, causing wrinkles and skin laxity. Peptides help stimulate the production of these proteins, making the skin firmer and more compact. Reduce wrinkles and fine lines: Peptides can help smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, giving skin a smoother, more even appearance. Improve skin elasticity and tone: peptides help make the skin more elastic and toned, counteracting the signs of aging. Protects skin from free radical damage: Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage skin cells. Peptides help protect skin from free radical damage, preventing premature aging. There are different types of peptides, each with its own specific functions. Some peptides are more effective at reducing wrinkles, while others are more effective at improving skin elasticity. It is important to choose the right product based on your specific needs. Peptides in cosmetics: classification and functions The ones you find in cosmetics are called biomimetic peptides , which imitate the action of natural peptides produced by our body. Signal Peptides They stimulate or inhibit processes such as the production of collagen and elastin, making the skin firmer and more toned. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 : Stimulate collagen synthesis and inhibit the enzymes that degrade it. Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 : Stimulates the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans. Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 : Stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, making the skin firmer. Palmitoyl Heptapeptide-5 : Stimulates collagen synthesis. Enzyme inhibitory peptides They slow down collagen degradation or reduce pigmentation. Oligopeptide-20 : Activates wound healing mechanisms. Dipeptide-2 and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 : Improve lymphatic drainage, reducing bags and dark circles. Neurotransmitter inhibitory peptides By reducing communication between nerves and muscles, they reduce expression lines. Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-19 : Reduces the contraction of mimic muscles, diminishing expression wrinkles. Acetyl-hexapeptide-8 : Works as a muscle relaxant, reducing the visibility of wrinkles after a few days of use. Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3 : Reduces muscle contraction and stimulates the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate : Penetrates deeply into the skin, acting on wrinkles caused by facial movements. How to choose a cosmetic with peptides? As we have seen, there are different types of peptides available, each with its own function. For an even more effective action on the skin, I recommend you choose a product that combines different peptide technologies, so that it can act on multiple fronts for the well-being of your skin. B-Like Serum Yuniwa Cosmetics is a face serum with 4 different peptide technologies for: reduce the depth of wrinkles stimulate collagen synthesis inhibit muscle contractions to relax the face In addition to peptides, this anti-aging face serum contains precious hydrating, plumping and protective ingredients such as: cross-linked hyaluronic acid, with plumping and hydrating action mix of amino acids, which keep the skin healthy and luminous by protecting it from free radicals brewer's yeast extracts , which protect the skin barrier to reduce blemishes and imperfections B-Like Serum is a serum suitable for all skin types, oil-free, fragrance-free, plumps and smoothes the skin for a healthier and brighter appearance. It happens when the skin is not adequately hydrated due to internal factors, especially genetic ones. The skin's ability to regulate its own amount of water in the most superficial layers depends on two main factors: Hygroscopic molecules that reside in the epidermis. They are the molecules of urea, lactate, PCA (pyrrolidone carboxylic acid), salts and amino acids that attract and bind water. The effectiveness of the skin's lipid barrier which regulates the natural evaporation process through which the skin loses water. A delicate system that balances the skin's need for hydration based on the external environment. However, there are external (exogenous) factors that can alter the skin barrier and cause dryness. Xerosis of the skin manifests itself in a serious way with the presence of all these symptoms at the same time: Skin tension and roughness: the amount of dead cells increases significantly and a superficial layer forms that pulls and roughens the skin. The skin cracks : the stratum corneum is dry and not ductile. The skin peels because little pieces of skin lift and peel off. Itching is a consequence of dryness. Sensitivity is directly caused by the dryness of the skin. The skin is attacked by irritants such as hot water, perfumes and chemicals. Dry skin can occur anywhere on the body, in large or small areas. Xerosis: the possible causes As we said above, the two main deficiencies that lead to very dry skin are Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) deficiency . NMFs attract water and bind it in the stratum corneum and the top layer of the skin, the epidermis. Lipid deficiency in the protective barrier, epidermal lipids bind cells in the stratum corneum and form the water-binding barrier inside. There are several factors that alter the physiology of the skin leading to xerosis. Exogenous (external) factors Low environmental humidity increases the risk of xerosis Cleansing with aggressive products and too frequently Sun rays cause dry skin because they evaporate water. Endogenous (internal) factors In addition to the two main factors mentioned above: With age, the concentration of lipids in the stratum corneum decreases and leads to dryness. a suboptimal diet that does not provide essential lipids, NMF, and nutrients some drugs and diuretics Conditions such as Atopic Dermatitis , Psoriasis and Diabetes cause dry skin. Xerosis: what can be done? The first very important thing to do is to avoid the triggers so adopt a balanced diet get little sun or during the least hot hours avoid using very hot water reduce time in the shower or bath use gloves when washing dishes or clothes by hand use cotton clothes in contact with the skin. Furthermore, maintaining a correct facial and body care routine starting with cleansing is very important to alleviate the symptoms of xerosis. Learn moreAcne: what it is and what are the causes and remedies
Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory dermatosis, a skin disease. Widely spread in the most industrialized countries, it appears during puberty, juvenile acne, which corresponds to important hormonal changes. Many young people, about 20-30%, need pharmacological treatments. Acne can last into late adulthood. Find out how to treat it with natural remedies. How does acne manifest itself? Acne manifests itself with oily skin , the appearance of open comedones, blackheads, and closed comedones, whiteheads. In more severe cases, the skin becomes red and very inflamed papules and pustules appear. The most affected areas are the face, neck, shoulders, chest and back. Acne also affects you emotionally, often persists for a long time and can lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) with dark spots as well as scarring. What contributes to acne? The main linked factors are seborrhea, hyperkeratosis, bacterial colonization and inflammation. Seborrhea That is, the excessive production of sebum. The sebaceous glands secrete sebum, a fatty substance that lubricates and protects the skin and hair. There are several factors that can stimulate the formation of sebum, such as hormones, climate, some medications and a genetic predisposition can lead to an imbalance in sebum production which becomes excessive. Hyperkeratosis Hyperkeratosis is a thickening of the stratum corneum of the skin, the most superficial one. Dead skin cells, corneocytes, block the ducts of the sebaceous glands and so the sebum remains inside the hair follicle causing swelling and the formation of a closed comedo (whitehead) or an open comedo (blackhead). Microbial colonization The bacteria that normally populate the skin multiply excessively and colonize the blocked follicles and lead to the formation of pustules and cysts. The inflammation The skin becomes inflamed and red. Often the follicular wall bursts, releasing lipids, fatty acids, corneocytes, bacteria and cell fragments, and this causes extensive inflammation of the skin. Causes and triggers of acne The hormones They play a central role , hence the greater number of adolescents affected by acne. In adolescence the increase in androgen hormones increases the production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. In the development of acne, not only the amount of hormones present is important but also an increased sensitivity of the sebaceous glands. The vast majority of acne cases resolve spontaneously after adolescence but it is important to have targeted treatments to avoid showing signs. Even in adulthood hormones have an impact, for example in cases of polycystic ovary syndrome or during pregnancy, women are highly likely to suffer from acne. Psychological stress One factor that can trigger acne is moments of severe psychological stress. Genetics If both parents have had acne, the child is more likely to develop it. Similarly, if one or both parents had acne as adults, their children are also more likely to have acne as adults. The drugs Certain medications, such as steroids and lithium, stimulate the appearance of acne. Some factors aggravate acne symptoms: a diet too rich in sugars and white flour excessive consumption of cow's milk cigarette smoke conventional makeup that clogs pores with silicones etc. comedogenic skin products Good rules to follow to discourage the appearance or worsening of acne Use warm water and a non-aggressive detergent. Don’t pop pimples, as doing so spreads bacteria around the skin and triggers further inflammation as well as causing scarring. Always remove makeup thoroughly, Natural remedies for acne skin Treatment because there is no real cure. Those who have pure impure skin with acne tendency must adopt a routine of cleansing and application of only specific products. If you are taking any pharmacological treatments for acne, you should always integrate them with adequate hydration because they can dehydrate the skin. We recommend that you always ask your dermatologist If you are looking for the best organic cosmetics for acne-prone skin , we recommend you evaluate the Sebo-lift line by Domus Olea Toscana . This line is rich in purifying , soothing , sebum-balancing and anti-inflammatory active ingredients, but at the same time takes care of the skin's hydration, ensuring the right balance and without being too aggressive and degreasing. In fact, we often find cosmetics for acne skin on the market that degrease the skin too much and attack it, stimulating a greater production of sebum and worsening the inflammation situation. Domus Olea guarantees a perfectly balanced routine, which helps to keep this skin condition at bay and treat it effectively. The Sebo-lift line by Domus Olea Toscana is a complete routine of every treatment, which includes cleanser, exfoliant, toner, serum, face cream, face mask and localized treatments to be applied topically on imperfections. {"layoutMobile":2,"layoutDesktop":3,"buttonAlign":"Center","buttonText":"Go to product","productTitle":{"hue":213,"saturation":0,"brightness":0,"alpha":1},"priceColor":{"hue":0,"saturation":1,"brightness":0},"discountPrice":{"hue":356,"saturation":0.74,"brightness":1},"buttonCo lor":{"hue":26.67,"saturation":0.037,"brightness":0.9529,"alpha":1},"textBottomColor":{"hue":0,"satu ration":0,"brightness":0.018750000000000044,"alpha":1},"activeTitleButton":false,"moreProduct":"View all","moreProductUrl":"cesbgg-kq.myshopify.com","rowNumber":1,"dynamicProductId":[{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14976932544898","title":"Sebo Lift Maschera Purificante Riparatrice","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"6.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/sebo-lift-maschera-purificante-riparatrice-domus-olea-toscana-yumibio-955.webp?v=1752705417&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/sebo-lift-maschera-purificante-riparatrice","altImage":"Sebo Lift Maschera Purificante Riparatrice - Learn moreSkin pH: what is it and what is it for?
The skin performs many functions, the main one being to protect our body from the outside, with which it also puts us in contact. The good news is that pH plays a central and indispensable role in ensuring this protective barrier functions perfectly . The bad news is that the skin's pH is under constant attack from external aggressions : smog, temperature changes, chemical substances. Skin care products help to maintain the pH at its ideal level and therefore the skin itself is protected. What is pH? pH is a physical quantity , discovered in the early 1900s, which indicates the degree of acidity or basicity of a solution. The neutral pH value is 7, that of pure water at 25°. The general pH value of the skin is between 4.7 and 5.7 5. A value lower than 7 is acidic and higher is alkaline, if it follows that the natural pH of the skin is slightly acidic for this reason we speak of acid mantle. The pH of each person's skin varies slightly based on gender, body part and various factors including hormones so it does not remain identical over the years. Why is skin pH important? When we talk about pH we are referring to the skin's acid mantle which is very important for the health of the protective barrier. Neutralizes aggressive alkaline substances. It reduces bacterial proliferation. Maintains the ideal environment for the skin's natural bacterial flora. If the skin's pH is altered , the natural balance of the skin barrier is compromised . In these conditions the skin becomes dehydrated, more sensitive and reactive to environmental factors and more prone to infections, eczema, dermatitis The external factors that most stress the skin are chemical agents alkaline based cosmetics temperature and humidity changes pollution and dirt washing too frequently or with very hot water Then there are internal factors that modify the pH Genetics, biological age and hormones affect the pH of the skin. For example, a newborn's skin has an acid mantle that is not yet fully formed and has super delicate skin. During periods of hormonal change (such as puberty, pregnancy, and menopause), the pH of the skin also changes.
Learn moreKnowing Your Skin: Factors That Affect Your Skin
The skin is the largest organ in our body, it connects us to the world and also protects us from environmental factors such as irritants, allergens and microbes. It regulates body temperature to make us feel at our best. There are many factors that affect the skin and influence its well-being: internal and external to our body. There are some influences that we cannot do anything about, but some we can intervene in a positive way: effective treatments help protect it and maintain a younger appearance for a long time. Endogenous factors that affect the skin When talking about endogenous factors, that is, internal factors that influence the skin, we include genetic factors, hormonal conditions and specific health conditions of the body. Genetics An individual's genetic makeup determines every single cell and therefore also the type of skin (normal, dry, oily or combination) and influences its condition. Genetics plays a central role in biological skin aging, namely: impaired cell renewal, decreased secretions of sebaceous and sweat glands, degeneration of connective tissue and loss of firmness, and decreased skin elasticity. Biological skin aging is not premature skin aging. Premature skin aging is instead caused by exogenous or external factors, such as exposure to the sun or smoking. Genetic factors determine not only biological aging and skin type but also the predisposition to particular conditions such as Atopic Dermatitis, Psoriasis and Ichthyosis. For example, those born with a lack of filaggrin, a protein, have sensitive skin and are predisposed to atypical dermatitis because their skin barrier is compromised. It follows that I will be determined to follow a proper skincare routine to protect my skin as much as possible. Some diseases Diabetes, kidney disease and others – can affect the condition of the skin. Hormones Hormonal changes such as menopause, pregnancy, adolescence and puberty have a significant impact on the skin. Just think of the typical acne-prone skin of teenagers. During pregnancy, hormones can stimulate melanin and cause melasma, a form of hyperpigmentation that causes skin discoloration. During menopause, female estrogen levels decrease. These hormones positively influence the skin's water balance and their decrease causes structural changes to the skin as well as dryness. Exogenous factors that affect the skin Exogenous factors, that is external, depend on the environment that surrounds us and our lifestyle. We smoke, we love the sun, we use detergents without knowing what they contain… The sunlight Sun is life. But in moderation! Exposure that is too long and without adequate protection significantly damages the skin, causing radical premature aging. The sun's rays affect the skin with sunburn, UVA rays have been linked to skin cancer, photoaging, sunburn, hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration. Prolonged exposure to the sun triggers the formation of free radicals. Temperature Extreme weather temperatures affect the skin. In a very cold climate the skin closes the pores to avoid heat loss and the secretion of the sebaceous glands is reduced, causing dryness. Low humidity in closed environments and with central heating can dehydrate the skin making it very sensitive. Some conditions, such as rosacea, can be triggered by high temperatures. Aggressive products The skin's pH is slightly acidic, between 4.7 and 5.75. Many commercial cleansers use aggressive surfactants with an alkaline pH and damage the skin barrier, making even normal skin sensitive or hypersensitive. Hypersensitive skin is prone to skin infections and dermatitis. We always choose eco-friendly organic products suitable for our skin so we can make sure we don't run into problems of this type. Hygiene Even washing continuously damages our skin. The skin becomes dehydrated and rougher. Diet Eating a healthy and balanced diet helps keep your entire body and skin healthy. What is good for our skin? Water, water, and more water, and then vitamin C, fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat proteins (fish). Lifestyle Lifestyle affects your entire body, including your skin! Some useful tips to delay skin aging and prevent skin problems: Let's learn to manage stress, do physical activity, enjoy the right hours of sleep to give cells the chance to regenerate. Above all, if we smoke, let's stop doing it! Cigarette smoke is a major source of free radical release. Smoking makes your skin look older and increases wrinkles. When you quit smoking, your skin will visibly look healthier in a short period of time.
Learn moreFace taping: what it is, how it was created and how it works
Face taping is a new non-invasive anti-aging aesthetic technique for facial skin that is becoming increasingly popular in Europe. The tapes applied to the face stimulate and drain the skin, resulting in a reduction of bags and swelling, a general relaxation of the muscles and a reduction of wrinkles and expression lines. It is a technique particularly suitable for dull and mature skin . What is face taping? Face taping is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment capable of stimulating blood and lymphatic circulation and relieving facial muscle tension, reducing wrinkles and expression lines. It is, in all respects, a direct evolution of anti-wrinkle facial gymnastics. The tapes used in face taping are made up of small waves that lift and relieve the skin. This movement stimulates a sort of small skin massage that is capable of counteracting muscle contractures typically caused by tension, stress or postural errors. The Origins of Face Taping Face taping originated in Russia and soon took hold in South Korea. It derives from the famous kinesio taping , or the preventive, rehabilitative and therapeutic treatment of sports medicine, orthopedics and traumatology. Tapes, patches or elastic adhesive bandages called colored kinesiology tapes are applied to the areas subject to treatment by exerting a light traction. In this way, the physiological load of the area decreases. The same thing happens with face taping. The tape, free of any active ingredient, cream or serum, is applied to the face to help the muscles and skin. Even if they do not come with additional products, it is best to buy the tapes at the pharmacy or sports shops. In this way you will have the possibility of buying dermatologically tested tapes for both the cotton of the band and the adhesive used. How does face taping work? The areas of the face subjected to face taping treatment must be chosen carefully because they vary from person to person. This, of course, depends on your personal needs and requirements. There are, for example, people who need to treat the area of the procerus muscle and the frontalis muscle, people for whom it is more useful to treat the area of the zygomaticus minor and major, or the risorius muscle which is often involved in jaw tension and so on. Also, you should know that the applications of tapes are not limited to the face area only. In fact, you can apply them to relieve tension in the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which is located on both sides of the neck . With this type of application, the relief could help you reduce jaw tension and muscle migraines. The first few times you do face taping, it is advisable to seek the advice of a professional. Because, although these techniques are simple to learn and repeat in the future, it is necessary to understand the procedures well beforehand. You will be working with typically very short muscle groups and areas of your face that you will quickly learn to know, but give yourself the right amount of time to learn. Once you are independent , you will have to remember two simple instructions: • Face taping is a procedure that requires application on clean and dry facial skin . After cleansing, instead of proceeding with your normal skincare routine, apply the tape. The ideal is to do it in the evening to leave the tape on for 8 to 10 hours during the night. • The frequency of use of face taping is very variable and personal. If you feel the need to see the first results quickly, apply the tapes even for 10 consecutive days but, in general, for the first applications, a week of treatment is usually alternated with a week of rest. There are also situations in which a "shock treatment" is chosen, consisting of two weekly applications for about a month and, subsequently, one session every two weeks. Finally, always keep in mind that face taping is highly recommended for skin that is starting to show the first signs of aging, generally from the age of 35 onwards. Have you ever tried face taping?
Learn moreHow to deflate your face: here is the draining self-massage.
Do you wake up in the morning with a swollen face? The lying position while sleeping causes excess fluids to accumulate on the face, making the face appear puffy, the eyes tired and giving the skin an unhealthy appearance. Stress, lack of sleep, alcohol consumption, very salty foods and smoking are among the main causes of fluid accumulation that causes a puffy face. Puffy face: how to prevent it? There is no secret recipe, but here are 4 tips to prevent facial swelling : 1. Rest. Sleep at least 7-8 hours a night. This is the time our body needs to rest and regenerate. Your skin will also benefit! 2. Hydrate. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Water is essential for our body and drinking the right amount also helps to combat blemishes such as cellulite and a puffy face. If you can't, you can also drink tasty herbal teas, which help you stay hydrated. 3. Stop smoking. Avoid smoking, at least before going to sleep: smoking stresses the skin and reduces tissue oxygenation, which is essential for having bright and healthy skin. 4. Evening Skincare . Skincare is important, especially at the end of the day. Removing makeup and residues of smog and pollution that accumulate on the skin helps you have healthy skin free of imperfections. You can take advantage of your evening skincare routine for a draining facial massage : it reduces fluid retention and combats swelling. Swollen face: here is lymphatic drainage Lymphatic drainage facial massage is a particular facial self-massage technique : the movements performed allow you to stimulate lymphatic circulation and eliminate excess fluids that accumulate on the face. Facial lymphatic drainage is suitable for everyone , I particularly recommend it to those who spend many hours at the computer : the often incorrect position, the often frowning eyes can lead to a swollen face, bags and dark circles and - last but not least - expression wrinkles. With facial lymphatic drainage , we drain excess fluids, reduce puffiness , bags and dark circles , relax expression muscles and relieve stress for an intensely relaxing treatment . In the video at the beginning of the article, we discover together how to do a draining facial self-massage , together with our coach Rossella. Self-massage of the face stimulates lymphatic drainage and improves skin microcirculation, stimulating the production of elastin and collagen, capable of making the skin more elastic and luminous. This self-massage of the face also helps prevent facial wrinkles because it relieves muscle tension that typically accumulates in the face with emotions such as anxiety or stress.
