What is meant by double pass with henna and other dyeing herbs? Double pass means two applications of henna and dyeing herbs in order to even out the hair and then obtain the desired hair color! The two applications, the two steps, can be done on the same day or one or more days apart from each other. The first step: the first application with henna The first step must be done with only red henna , then the lawsonia This first step serves to: make the hair as uniform as possible by pigmenting the hair tone any gray hair and regrowth Leave your red henna on for at least 45-60 minutes, as always covered with a cap or to keep it nice and warm. Learn moreIndigo for hair: properties and benefits
Indigo for hair is a powder obtained from the fermentation and drying of the leaves of the tropical plant Indigofera Tinctoria . Indigo for hair has dyeing properties and is used in Black Henna for its ability to give hair dark tones ranging from brown to black, with light shades of blue. In addition to dyeing hair, indigo has beneficial properties for hair: it envelops the hair cuticles, protecting them from external stress and making the hair thicker and shinier. Indigo powder is therefore useful in the restructuring treatment of fine, fragile or damaged hair ; it is also excellent as a treatment for greasy hair due to its antibacterial and sebum-balancing action. How to dye your hair with indigo? Indigo is a completely natural dye that allows you to obtain dark tones, from brown to black. To color your hair with indigo, simply mix the powder with hot water, adding a pinch of bicarbonate or salt to improve the release of pigments and to fix the color. There is no need to let the mixture rest, you can apply it immediately on clean hair. Indigo alone cannot bind to the hair's keratin and therefore, if used alone, will tend to discharge very quickly. To keep the color longer, you can prepare a dye mixture with red henna (lawsonia) or other herbs depending on the effect you want to achieve. To intensify the color and fix it well, I recommend you apply indigo close together, even once a week, to allow the pigments to fix well on the hair. Remember that indigo releases a blue pigment and cannot be used alone on blonde or white hair, which would turn green or light blue! Be careful if you use indigo and want to bleach your hair : the risk of green-blue reflections is very high! Indigo for hair: preparation and application Preparing Indigo requires some essential accessories for a safe, precise and clean application. Prepare gloves, a bowl, an application brush, a cream to protect the skin at the hairline, and dark towels. I recommend applying the mixture to clean hair to optimize the color yield. How much indigo powder to use? The quantities suggested are general and vary based on the total mass of the hair. If in doubt, I recommend preparing a more generous dose of product: the hair must be well covered by the mixture. If there is any left, you can always freeze it for a later application. Very short hair: 50 gr Short hair: 100 gr Hair on shoulders: 150 gr Very long hair: 200 - 250 gr How to prepare indigo? If you don't have white hair, just prepare the mixture with hot water, mixing until you obtain a creamy paste and apply it to clean hair. If you have white hair , remember that indigo does not cover the whites but makes them bluish. To cover gray hair with indigo, I recommend you proceed with a double pass : 1st step should be done only with Lawsonia to tone the whites, with a pose of approximately 40 - 50 minutes; 2nd step with a mix of Lawsonia and Indigo to fix the color and allow you to obtain hair with full and uniform color. Create a thick, non-drip mixture (the ideal consistency is that of yogurt) and distribute it all over your hair. Cover your hair carefully with cling film or a shower cap and leave it on for at least 40 minutes. To get the most benefits from indigo for hair, make sure you use pure indigo, without the addition of chemical additives . Often, in fact, low-quality powders are added with synthetic dyes, which increase their dyeing power; always use a pure, high-quality indigo for healthy and shiny hair. {"layoutMobile":2,"layoutDesktop":3,"buttonAlign":"Center","buttonText":"Go to product","productTitle":{"hue":213,"saturation":0,"brightness":0,"alpha":1},"priceColor":{"hue":0,"saturation":1,"brightness":0},"discountPrice":{"hue":356,"saturation":0.74,"brightness":1},"buttonCo lor":{"hue":26.67,"saturation":0.037,"brightness":0.9529,"alpha":1},"textBottomColor":{"hue":0,"satu ration":0,"brightness":0.018750000000000044,"alpha":1},"activeTitleButton":false,"moreProduct":"View all","moreProductUrl":"cesbgg-kq.myshopify.com","rowNumber":1,"dynamicProductId":[{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14976933626242","title":"Pura Polvere di Indigo","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"5.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/pura-polvere-di-indigo-biopark-cosmetics-yumibio-480.webp?v=1752682167&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/pura-polvere-di-indigo","altImage":"Pura Polvere di Indigo - Biopark Cosmetics"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14976801636738","title":"Polvere pura di Indigo","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"7.11","compareAtPrice":"7.90","imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/polvere-pura-di-indigo-le-erbe-janas-yumibio-233.webp?v=1752511059&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/polvere-pura-di-indigo","altImage":"Polvere pura di Indigo - Le Erbe Janas"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14977130922370","title":"Indigo in polvere","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"9.90","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/indigo-in-polvere-isha-yumibio-483.webp?v=1752687724&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/indigo-in-polvere","altImage":"Indigo in polvere - Isha"},{"id":"gid://shopify/Product/14976977174914","title":"Polvere di Indigo Biologica","currencyCode":"EUR","price":"11.99","compareAtPrice":null,"imagesUrl":"https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0906/5329/4978/files/polvere-di-indigo-biologica-cultivators-yumibio-131.webp?v=1752508136&width=600","urlStore":"https://www.yumibio.com/products/polvere-di-indigo-biologica","altImage":"Polvere di Indigo Biologica - Cultivator’s"}],"typeSearch":"product","device":"desktop","decimalsPrice":2,"aspectRatio":"3 / 4","isAutoPlay":false,"isNavigation":false,"isPriceDisplay":false,"rowDynamic":"mot","activeDecimals":false,"hidden":false,"locked":false,"positionPrice":false,"currencyCodeCustom":"$","activeDynamicProd":true,"blockName":"Product"} Pura Polvere di Indigo EUR 5.90 Go to product Polvere pura di Indigo EUR 7.11 EUR 7.90 Go to product Indigo in polvere EUR 9.90 Go to product Polvere di Indigo Biologica EUR 11.99 Go to product Yumibio Curiosities: Did you know that the use of indigo is very ancient? Learn moreAre you wondering how to lighten henna?
If you are passionate about henna and have been doing it on your hair for some time now. You may have gone from a warm color to a darker , cooler color - due to layering - that you may not like, or you simply mixed it hoping for a color and it didn't come out the color you wanted ! So what to do? The henna must be discharged more quickly by depigmenting and destratifying ! Index How it works Methods for destratifying and discharging color Correcting reflections How it works The shaft of our hair is protected by a thin layer of cells, the cuticle , which protects it from external aggressions and stress. When you use a chemical dye on your hair, it works mainly thanks to two main ingredients, ammonia and hydrogen peroxide, which make the hair swell by opening its cuticles and depriving it of its original color, destroying the melanin inside it to "replace" it with new colored molecules that will be in all respects the result of the chosen dye. Hair coloring with henna, on the other hand, has a different process: lawsonia is deposited on the hair. The color slowly migrates inside the cortex of the hair, where it binds with the keratin naturally contained within it. Henna continues to oxidize for approximately 3 days after treatment and during this time the color will change slightly before settling permanently. As the treatments continue, the hair will become thicker, stronger and more voluminous, but with many applications you will experience a process of color stratification , which will make the hair turn darker. To maintain lighter and brighter tones, we recommend alternating henna dyeing with highlighting treatments such as sherazade ; apply pure henna only on the roots to cover regrowth and treat the lengths only every two months. Another method is to use a different mix for the lengths, with a high percentage of cassia to dampen the dyeing power of the henna. If you want to remove henna by destratifying, then continue reading! Methods for destratifying and discharging color The more layered and dark the henna color is, the longer it will take. With these natural methods, the hair will gradually and delicately release the color, depigmenting the lawsonia! 1. Pack with vegetable oils and butters to lighten henna Get some shea butter , coconut oil , or other plant-based oils or butters. Apply generously to damp hair, cover with a cap or towel and leave on for at least an hour! Rinse and shampoo gently. 2. Methi Hair Mask to Destratify Henna A slightly destratifying mask is prepared with: 125 ml coconut milk methi powder Add the powder to the coconut milk, mixing until it has the consistency of yogurt. Apply it on scalp and hair and leave it on for at least 60 minutes. Rinse and shampoo gently. 3. Acidified Cassia Compress to Discharge Henna You will need: 100 grams of cassia juice of half a lemon warm water Combine the cassia , lemon and warm water until you have a yogurt-like batter. Let it rest overnight, say between eight and twelve hours. Now apply to the hair you want to depigment, all over or just the lengths, for 45-60 minutes. Rinse and shampoo. 4. Henna depigmentation and lightening process with BurroBirra Here's what you'll need, the doses indicated are for long hair 1 33cl light beer 1 generous knob of shea butter juice of half a lemon Boil the beer to evaporate the alcohol that would damage the hair, now let it cool and then put the shea butter knob in the beer and add the lemon. Mix well! Now prepare a bowl and pour the ButterBeer on your hair, which will drip into the bowl. Take the poured ButterBeer collected in the bowl and repeat a few times until the hair is completely soaked and the remaining liquid is red/cloudy. Wrap in cling film and leave to rest for at least a couple of hours Now shampoo! Correcting reflections If you just want to correct unwanted hair highlights , there are very simple solutions that you can put into practice, without any preparation, perfect for use on natural hair, dyed with henna or dyes. Learn moreHenna for Hair: What it is, How to Choose it and How to Use it
Henna for hair is a product that has been used for hair care for thousands of years: traces of this colouring plant have even been found in the hair of the mummy of Pharaoh Ramses! In Africa, India and in the Eastern world in general, henna is used to decorate hands, nails, feet and hair, especially in preparation for important ceremonies, such as weddings. In the West, henna for hair was already used by Roman matrons, who chose it to color their hair and, even today, we can use this plant to care for our hair naturally and without chemical dyes . Index What is henna? How it works How to dye your hair with henna The best red hennas What is henna? Henna is obtained from Lawsonia Inermis , a plant that grows tall and lush in hot and dry climates, such as Africa, the Middle East and India. Its leaves contain a coloring pigment, Lawsone, which can dye hair copper, light red or mahogany, depending on individual variables such as the starting color and the keratin structure, but also on the type of henna used. Henna acquires different characteristics depending on the climate and soil and each crop is unique and different from the others. The percentage of lawsone contained in the leaves ranges from 1 to 5% and the greater the amount of pigment, the darker and more intense the color obtained . Usually, henna leaves with the highest quantity of Lawsone are reserved for body art but, it is also excellent for hair, thanks to the higher quantity of pigment and the finer pulverization, which allows to obtain a creamier and more spreadable compound . How it works The shaft of our hair is made up of lipids, minerals and a protein, keratin , which makes it strong, strong and elastic. The colour is determined by a pigment, melanin , which is found in the cortex, the thickest and most fibrous part of the hair; this area is protected by a thin layer of cells, the cuticle, which protects it from external aggressions and stress. When we use a chemical dye on our hair, it works mainly thanks to two main ingredients, ammonia and hydrogen peroxide, which make the hair swell by opening its cuticles and depriving it of its original color, destroying the melanin inside it to "replace" it with new colored molecules that will be in all respects the result of the chosen dye. Hair coloring with henna, on the other hand, has a different process. When we apply the creamy compound obtained by simply mixing the henna powder with warm water, the color slowly migrates inside the cortex of the hair, where it binds with the keratin naturally contained within it. The final color we will get will therefore be a unique and personalized color, created just for us by nature, from the mix of our natural coloring and the tone of the henna. Furthermore, with the succession of treatments, the hair will be increasingly thicker, stronger and more voluminous . How to dye your hair with henna Using henna to dye your hair is very simple and I will explain how to do it step by step. But first a little clarification : henna, the real henna, dyes hair only red, with all its shades. Those we find on the market with the words black henna, blond henna, brown henna, are actually mixes of henna and other dyeing herbs that allow you to cover gray hair and obtain your favorite color. Dyeing your hair with henna or a mix of henna and herbal dyes is very simple and, using the right precautions, you will not notice any difference compared to applying a chemical dye from the supermarket. 1. Prepare the mixture A good quality henna powder looks like a fine, smooth powder. Mix the henna powder with hot water, stirring well to create a smooth paste with the consistency of yogurt. Let the mixture rest for a few minutes and proceed with the application. In some cases it may be necessary to let the product oxidize for a few hours. 2. Apply You can apply henna like a normal dye, using a brush or even your hands. Start from the roots and continue along the lengths, covering all of your hair well. Always use gloves to avoid coloring your hands and nails too! When you're done, cover your hair with cling film or, better yet, a plastic cap that can be washed and reused, for a zero-waste approach! Wear a warm towel or hat, to help the henna penetrate your hair better and work its magic! 3. Wait The exposure time for dyeing hair with henna varies from hair to hair and depending on the result we want to achieve: longer exposure times will give life to more intense and deep colors, while a short exposure will give us warm and coppery highlights. In general, to obtain a good result it is advisable to leave the product on for at least two hours but, if we want a very cold colour, we can also leave it on for 6-8 hours. 4. Rinse Wash off the henna with warm water, rinsing until the water runs clear. It is best not to use shampoo at this stage, to avoid discharging the color already. However, if you feel like you haven’t rinsed all the powder out properly, you can use a diluted shampoo to remove everything and avoid itching on your scalp in the following days. If you need to, use conditioner to untangle your hair and eliminate excess compound. The ideal is a light conditioner, with a formula containing few oils, which allows you to eliminate residues and make your hair softer, without affecting the color obtained, since the oils make the henna discharge more quickly. For this purpose, try Yuniwa Cosmetics Hair Conditioner , which has a light formula and thanks to its illuminating properties, will allow you to obtain even shinier and healthier hair at the end of the treatment. If you are not satisfied with the color, wait a few days before proceeding with a new application: in fact, the henna continues to oxidize for about 3 days after the treatment and during this period the color will change slightly before settling permanently. Remember that close applications will stratify the color, turning to darker tones; if you prefer to keep lighter and brighter tones we recommend alternating the henna dye with reflecting treatments such as sherazade. Learn moreBrown Henna for Hair, User Guide
Henna is an herb with high dyeing power, excellent for covering grey hair. The plant called henna, Lawsonia Inermis , has a single colour, red, but thanks to the addition of various dyeing herbs, it is possible to obtain different shades of brown, from the lightest to the darkest and most intense. Index Brown henna how to prepare it Gray hair coverage Permanent coloring The best brown henna Brown henna how to prepare it You can obtain a brown herbal dye using herbs such as Katam , Walnut Hull , Catecù , Indigo , Camphor to mix with Red Henna to fix the color to the hair and improve its hold over time. In fact, red henna is the only dyeing herb that can bind to the hair's keratin, thus ensuring that the color stays on the hair for a long time. If you prefer to avoid mixing the various herbs yourself to obtain brown tones, you can use one of the ready-made mixes available on the market, with herbs already mixed in the right proportions. You can find light brown henna, dark brown henna but also copper brown or ash brown henna, which you can further mix together to create your own custom color. To prepare the henna, remember that brown dye pigments do not like acidic pH and it is therefore best to prepare the mixture only with hot water, avoiding acidic substances such as lemon, karcadè, lemon, tea and various infusions; these substances could in fact reduce the dyeing power of brown henna and would make everything turn towards warmer and coppery tones. The perfect water temperature is between 50° and 60° , to keep the colouring power intact and avoid highlighting the copper/orange tones. It is not necessary to let the prepared mixture rest, since it is not necessary to let it oxidize to obtain brown tones: you can apply it immediately , leaving it to rest only for the time necessary for the mixture to become lukewarm. Gray hair coverage To cover gray hair and get brown tones, there are various options. If you have a few gray hairs , you can apply brown henna directly to your natural base. Depending on the recipe you choose, the gray hair will remain lighter, with golden or copper highlights, but will blend well with the base; If you have a lot of white hair , if your natural base is very light or if you have bleached your hair , you need to do a two-step coloring: a first step with only red henna to pigment the hair and create a uniform base, and a second step with your mix for brown hair. In this case, you will need to prepare a first red henna , to be left on for at least 45-60 minutes, as always covered with a cap and towel to keep everything warm. Once you have finished this first application, rinse with warm water, towel dry your hair or dry it if you prefer and apply your brown henna . If you are more comfortable you can also do the second step the next day! The double pass is not always necessary, there are hairs that are able to absorb the pigment better than others and have excellent results already with a single pass; later you can decide to do the double pass only on the regrowth touch-ups, so as to optimize and reduce the processing times! Important : if your natural base is blonde, natural, dyed or bleached, it is necessary to do a first pass with pure red henna, to avoid having strange greenish shades. Permanent coloring Henna is a permanent color that binds to the keratin of the hair. The pigments that help to have brown tones, go away quite easily after several washes. For this reason, it is easy for copper highlights to start to appear on the whole hair after a few weeks. If you want to destratify the henna or if you want to lighten the tone you obtained with natural colorings, you can make compresses based on oils and butters that help the color to discharge more quickly. Learn moreBlonde Henna: What It Is and How to Do It
Henna is the powder obtained from the dried leaves of a plant, Lawsonia Inermis , a thorny shrub that grows abundantly in areas of the world with hot, dry climates such as Africa, the Middle East and India. Lawsonia Inermis contains a colouring pigment in its leaves, lawsone , which dyes it an intense orange-red. Henna has been used since ancient times to color hair, dye fabrics and adorn the body with tattoos. This natural dye not only colors but is also very rich in nourishing, protective and invigorating substances for the skin and hair. Henna powder colors the hair by binding to the keratin, filling the hair scales which also become fuller! It is therefore perfect for those with very thin, fragile hair or split ends. Pure henna colors thanks to its pigment content, namely lawsone molecules, and dyes only and exclusively red. By binding to keratin, the result obtained will be different based on the starting color. But then what is blonde henna? Index What is blonde henna? Blonde Henna Recommended by Yumibio What is blonde henna The term henna has expanded to include all those natural hair dyeing herbs. The products defined as blonde henna, brown henna, black henna are called this way for convenience of language but in addition to pure henna they contain a mixture of dyeing herbs. The blond one will contain a small percentage of Lawsonia inermis to which other herbs will be added, such as Cassia obovata , also called neutral henna, rhubarb and chamomile and other plants that will give highlights to already blond or light hair, to intensify the colour. When making the compress, you can add other herbs and spices to the mixture such as saffron, ginger, turmeric and lemon which, due to their characteristics, make the color turn towards coppery and warm tones. We always recommend that you do some tests to see the result you can get on your hair. The lawsone molecule , contained only in pure henna and with an orange-red color, is the only one able to bind to the keratin of the hair and make the coloring permanent. Based on the percentage contained, the henna will be more or less long-lasting, even if by nature it tends to fade over time. We would like to point out that since it is not a chemical dye , blonde henna does not lighten hair, so it is suitable for reviving already blonde hair or giving a golden or coppery effect depending on the quantity of lawsonia it contains. How to prepare it Covers gray hair The best natural purple henna What is purple henna? The term henna has expanded to include all those natural hair dyeing herbs. The products defined as blonde henna, brown henna, black henna are called this way for convenience of language but in addition to pure henna they contain a mixture of dyeing herbs. The purple one, available in its various shades, will contain a percentage of Lawsonia inermis to which other herbs will be added. We always recommend that you do some tests to see the result you can get on your hair. Based on the percentage contained, the henna will be more or less long-lasting, even if by nature it tends to fade with the passing of time. Never use dye mixtures containing Indigo if you have bleached hair because you risk obtaining a color that tends towards green! How to prepare it You can obtain a purple herbal dye using herbs such as Madder , Logwood , Hibiscus , Indigo , Alkanet , Katam with Cold Red Henna to fix the color to the hair and improve its hold over time. In fact, red henna is the only dyeing herb that can bind to the hair's keratin , thus ensuring that the color remains fixed on the hair for a long time. If you prefer to avoid mixing the various herbs yourself to obtain purple tones, you can use one of the ready-made mixes available on the market, with herbs already mixed in the right proportions. To prepare purple henna, it is recommended not to use lemon, hibiscus, tea and various infusions but only water because they would bring out the warm and coppery tones. The perfect water temperature is between 50° and 60°, to keep the colouring power intact and avoid excessively highlighting the copper/orange tones. Does it cover grey hair? To cover gray hair and get a purple shade, there are various options. If you have a few gray hairs, you can apply purple henna directly to your natural base. Depending on the recipe you choose, the gray hair will remain lighter but will be able to blend well with the base; If you have a lot of white hair, if your natural base is very light or if you have bleached your hair, you need to do a two-step coloring: in the first step only cold red henna to pigment the hair and create a uniform base in the second step henna with your mix for purple tones In this case, you just need to prepare a first cold red henna, to be left on for at least 45-60 minutes, as always covered with a cap and towel to keep everything warm. Once this first application is finished, rinse with hot water, towel dry your hair well or dry it if you prefer and apply your purple henna. If you are more comfortable, you can also do the second step the next day! A double pass is not always necessary , there are hairs that are able to absorb the pigment better than others and have excellent results already with a single pass; later you can decide to do the double pass only on the regrowth touch-ups, so as to optimize and reduce the processing times! Important: if your natural base is blonde, natural, dyed or bleached, it is necessary to do a first pass with pure red henna, to avoid having strange greenish shades. Learn moreBlack Henna: What It Is and How to Make It
Henna is the powder obtained from the dried leaves of a plant, Lawsonia Inermis , a thorny shrub that grows abundantly in areas of the world with hot, dry climates such as Africa, the Middle East and India. Lawsonia Inermis contains a colouring pigment in its leaves, lawsone, which dyes it an intense orange-red. Henna has been used since ancient times to color hair, dye fabrics and adorn the body with tattoos. This natural dye not only colors but is also very rich in nourishing, protective and invigorating substances for the skin and hair. Henna powder colors the hair by binding to the keratin , filling the hair scales which are also made fuller! It is therefore perfect for those with very thin, fragile hair or with split ends. Pure henna colors thanks to its pigment content , namely lawsone molecules, and dyes only and exclusively red. By binding to keratin, the result obtained will be different based on the starting color. But then what is black henna? Index What is black henna? How to prepare Covers gray hair The best natural black henna What is black henna? The term henna has expanded to include all those natural hair dyeing herbs . The products defined as blonde henna, brown henna, black henna are called this way for convenience of language but in addition to pure henna they contain a mixture of dyeing herbs. The black one will contain a percentage of Lawsonia inermis to which other herbs will be added. We always recommend that you do some tests to see the result you can get on your hair. The lawsone molecule, contained only in pure henna and with an orange-red color, is the only one able to bind to the keratin of the hair and make the coloring permanent. Based on the percentage contained, the henna will be more or less long-lasting, even if by nature it tends to fade with the passing of time. Never use dye mixtures containing Indigo if you have bleached hair because you risk obtaining a color that tends towards green! How to prepare You can make a black herbal dye using Indigofera Tinctoria , also known as Indigo. Indigo is a plant whose leaves contain a blue -toned dye molecule. Did you know that jeans are dyed with Indigo? It is always recommended to mix it with Red Henna to fix the color to the hair and improve its hold over time. In fact, red henna is the only dyeing herb that can bind to the hair's keratin, thus ensuring that the color stays on the hair for a long time . If you prefer to avoid mixing the various herbs yourself to obtain the black, you can use one of the ready-made mixes available on the market, with herbs already mixed in the right proportions. To prepare black henna, it is recommended not to use lemon, hibiscus, tea and various infusions but only water because they would bring out the warm and coppery tones. The perfect water temperature is between 50° and 60° , to keep the colouring power intact and avoid excessively highlighting the copper/orange tones. Does it cover grey hair?
