Henna and Vegetable Dyes
Henna and natural hair dyes
Henna and natural hair dyes are a natural way to color your hair and cover gray hair .
With henna and dyeing herbs you can dye your hair thanks to the power of nature; red henna covers gray hair permanently. If you don't like red highlights on your hair, you can use brown henna , blonde henna or black henna : they are obtained by mixing different dyeing herbs, for a natural color rich in shades.
On Yumibio you can find various natural hennas and natural hair dyes , in different shades: copper blonde henna , light brown henna , purple henna , brown henna and black henna.
You can cover gray hair with henna in one application, but if you have a lot of gray hair or if you want to get a particularly dark color, we recommend that you do a two-step coloring : a first step with pure red henna (lawsonia inermis) to pigment the hair. You can then proceed with brown henna or black henna to get a full color with rich highlights.

What color can I get with henna?
Pure henna dyes exclusively red; the result varies depending on the original color and will be more evident on white and light hair, while on dark hair, it will mainly produce highlights.
On the market you can often find products called blonde henna, brown henna, black henna, etc., but they are actually mixes of dyeing herbs.
After doing henna, can I go back to chemical dyes or bleach my hair?
Yes, but you'll be so happy with the results that you won't want to go back! In any case, if you used pure henna, there's no risk in going back to chemical dye.
As for bleaching, it depends on the herbs you used: if you used only pure henna, you can bleach without any problems, but the final result you will get will not be blonde but coppery.
Absolutely no bleaching if you have used indigo , as you could end up with green hair!
Does henna cover gray hair?
Yes, but for full coverage on white hair, a “double pass” is often needed: first pure henna (copper), then a dark mixture with indigo/katam to cool and darken the result.
Does henna dry out your hair? How can you avoid it?
It may feel “drier” on some hair types: moisturize well, use conditioner, and try packs like Sherazade to revive and soften the result.
