Sidr: properties of this Ayurvedic cleansing herb

Sidr , an Ayurvedic cleansing herb rich in saponins that brings many benefits to the skin and hair by cleansing, illuminating, purifying!

What is Sidr?

Sidr is the powder obtained by pulverizing the leaves of two large evergreen trees that grow in North Africa, the Middle East and India and some other tropical countries , Ziziphus Spina-Christi and Ziziphus Jujuba, both of the genus Ziziphus, family Rhamnaceae. The Ziziphus plant grows majestically, not very tall, like a huge umbrella that, thanks to its mucilage, resists the most arid climates.

Ziziphus Spina Christi is also called Jujube of Christ because according to Christian tradition Jesus' crown of thorns was made with the thorny branches of this plant.

Ziziphus Jujube is also called Chinese Date and can also be found in Italy, the Romans imported it centuries ago for its succulent fruits.

The cosmetic properties of Sidr

Sidr , whether from one or the other Ziziphus plant, is also called neutral henna , because it has exceptional properties for the hair just like Cassia , which is also almost always referred to with the name neutral henna.

In addition to saponins, Sidr contains many mucilages that make it hydrating and soothing because they retain a lot of water, vitamins, tannins and mineral salts.

The main properties of Sidr are therefore:

  • Cleansers and purifiers
  • Anti-inflammatory and soothing
  • Anti-dandruff:
  • Fortifying:
  • Volumizers

Vegetable saponins perfectly clean the scalp and hair with a delicate cleansing, perfect as a pack in case of irritated skin or scalp, because it also fights dandruff .

Ideal for damaged and dry hair , which will be wonderfully healthy and shiny!
