Have you ever heard of Beauty Breathing ?
Breathing is one of our primal instincts, even as newborns.
Good oxygenation, movement, nutrition and sleep are essential for the development of the newborn; in fact, they influence the hormonal responses of our body and, in some cases, can also influence genetic expressions and DNA.
Even as adults, these primordial factors continue to be the basis of our well-being; just think how much lack of sleep or poor digestion can worsen our days!
What is beauty breathing?
Since ancient times, man has noticed the benefits of correct breathing as demonstrated by the various disciplines of Yoga and meditation, for example.
What we have learned in recent years is that proper breathing also affects the appearance of the skin: good oxygenation improves the health of organs and tissues and can enhance the anti-inflammatory activity of our body, improving the appearance of the skin.
Good breathing helps us to:
- Improve blood oxygenation and have visibly healthier skin
- Activate cellular metabolism, releasing more energy for all activities, including brain ones
- Counteract daily stress and improve sleep quality
- Improve your posture because incorrect breathing is one of the main causes of posture alteration
How to do Beauty Breathing
Beauty breathing is conscious breathing , where we become aware of our breathing and our body with the aim of synchronizing our heartbeat, breathing and brain activity.
This type of breathing reduces the production of stress hormones and activates the production of beneficial hormones that slow down the cellular aging process.
In beauty breathing, the exhalation phase , the one in which we exhale air, is slow and controlled ; exhaling slowly slows down the release of carbon dioxide and allows hemoglobins to release oxygen into the cells, slowing down the oxidation processes that cause cellular aging.
To do Beauty Breathing , take 5 minutes all for yourself , in a quiet place without disturbances. You can take advantage of the moment of your skincare routine, you can do it during the application time of a face mask or you can carve out a space all for yourself during your day.
Even if it seems complicated at first and it might even be tiring, don't worry: thanks to "muscle memory" you will soon be able to do it automatically.
But now let's get started!
Stand up straight, relax your shoulders and align your neck and tailbone to ensure your back is straight.
Reach up as if an invisible string is pulling you upwards, but stay rooted to the ground with your legs and feet stable but relaxed.
Soft arms at your sides.
Inhale through your nose, imagining that the air is a thick liquid that flows very slowly and slowly descends towards your navel.
This thick liquid slowly and gradually fills the belly area, then the lower chest, and only finally the lungs up to the chest.
Hold your breath for two seconds.
Now very slowly exhale through your mouth , in a controlled manner, keeping your chin low and hissing the letter "S" .
This little trick prevents tension in the neck and larynx, sending tension away from both the shoulders and the neck.
Repeat this ritual for five minutes with your eyes closed and then slowly open them again to start again with new energy!
