Do it yourself facial cleansing at home

Do-it-yourself facial cleansing allows you to take care of your skin, removing blackheads, dead cells and impurities to keep your skin healthy and glowing.

We know the importance of daily facial cleansing: in the morning and in the evening we must always eliminate impurities, smog and makeup residues using specific products for each skin type, but a perfect skincare routine must include a deep facial cleansing done consistently, at least at every change of season!

Facial cleansing at home: the steps

For a good DIY facial cleansing, six simple but fundamental steps are enough:

  1. Cleanse your skin to perfection
  2. Open the pores of your facial skin with the use of steam
  3. Scrub or exfoliant to remove dead cells and impurities
  4. Face mask suitable for your skin type
  5. Tonic or hydrolate
  6. Let's hydrate!

Cleanse your skin to perfection

Remove makeup with a gentle, oil-based makeup remover like Yuniwa Cosmetics Cleansing Balm, which removes all makeup residue from the face and eyes.

Even if you don't wear makeup, massage it all over your face as the first step of a double cleansing : the oils contained in this product will bind to the sebum and impurities of the skin for a deeper cleansing.

Next, use a gentle foaming cleanser to complete the cleansing process by removing any last traces of make-up and impurities.

Open the pores of your facial skin with the use of steam

You can do a deep cleansing of the skin by dilating the pores. Put a pot of water to boil, in a pot that is not high, better a medium sized one and not too high.

When it starts to boil, remove from heat and add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda. Place your face over the pot and cover your head with a towel to avoid losing heat.

Stay in position for about 10-15 minutes. After the treatment, our pores will be nice and dilated and ready for the scrub and welcome the mask!

Scrub or exfoliant to remove dead cells and impurities

The third step involves a scrub or exfoliant to remove dead cells and all impurities!

Apply the scrub or exfoliant to your skin , gently massaging it all over your face, avoiding the eye area.

The difference between a scrub and an enzymatic exfoliant is that the former acts mechanically, therefore it eliminates dead cells thanks to micro-granules that have a mechanical action; the peeling, on the other hand, removes dead cells thanks to acids or enzymes and is an ideal treatment if you have very sensitive skin that cannot tolerate granules.

After exfoliating, you can remove any blackheads by using two cotton pads to gently squeeze them.
Little secret:
if your skin is soft enough after steaming and scrubbing, you don't need to squeeze, but just pull your skin slightly to open the pores and let the excess sebum out.

Face mask suitable for your skin type

Now it's time for the face mask, choose one that suits your skin: if you have combination skin, you can also try multimasking, applying different masks on the areas of the face according to your needs!

If you have oily and impure skin, an illuminating face mask is a must-have in your beauty case. which regulates sebum production, purifies the skin and combats redness.

If you have dry and sensitive skin, choose a detox and antioxidant face mask, which reduces redness and inflammation and protects the skin from dryness and irritation.

Want to brighten dull skin ? Try a vitamin C mask that gives light and vitality, recharging the skin with new energy!

Always respect the application times indicated on the package, remove the excess with a sea sponge and rinse all residues well.

Apply toner

The toner has an astringent effect on the pores and allows us to retain the nutrients, active ingredients and hydration that we have offered to our skin with the mask.

Gently pat the toner into your skin until completely absorbed.

Hydration

Finish by applying your face cream or serum and also your eye and lip contour!

Apply these last products with a nice facial massage, for a moment of total relaxation.

Proceed with circular movements starting from the chin and moving towards the forehead to reactivate the microcirculation and promote natural cell regeneration.

If your face is swollen, now is the right time to try a draining self-massage!
