Can I use cosmetics during pregnancy?

Of course! During pregnancy, a woman's body undergoes many changes due to hormones and weight changes.

You may see the appearance of acne, stretch marks, skin blemishes, water retention or simple dark circles due to insomnia. Taking care of yourself is also important during this period and small daily pampering can help you live this journey more serenely, without feeling guilty.

However, we need to check the labels of the cosmetics we choose during pregnancy more carefully , to avoid ingredients that are potentially harmful to our skin.

If you are here, it is probably because you already use organic cosmetic products but, if you have not started yet, this could be the right time to buy natural cosmetics without silicones, without petrolatum and without parabens .

Can I use makeup during pregnancy?

During pregnancy, use mineral or organic make-up, preferably nickel tested .

During this period, pay even more attention to the hygiene of your makeup: do not share it with anyone and wash your brushes even more frequently!

To pamper your new skin, rely on products of natural origin: the best face creams to use during pregnancy are hydrating and nourishing, but without being greasy or oily.

Be careful of the sun's rays : due to hormones, melasma, also known as " pregnancy mask ", can form, skin blemishes located especially on the forehead, cheekbones, chin, and around the eyes.

As for body creams during pregnancy , however, pay attention to the ingredients, especially those contained in creams against cellulite and stretch marks.

Always check with your doctor before using products containing seaweed, caffeine, green tea, or chili pepper.

Water retention during pregnancy is physiological , so don't worry if you see more cellulite on your legs: it will disappear on its own while you're breastfeeding!

Also be careful with fragrances: some could be too strong for your skin or your nose!

Can I dye my hair while pregnant?

The scalp is a highly absorbent area and this is why many gynecologists recommend avoiding dyes during pregnancy ; it would be better to prefer plant-based dyes, without ammonia or henna.

The most scrupulous doctors recommend avoiding hair coloring completely in the first 3 months of pregnancy : this is the phase in which the fetus develops its organs and therefore extra care must be taken.

In general, during pregnancy you can use ammonia-free dyes , certified henna and colored conditioners but in these cases it is mandatory to talk to your gynecologist and act accordingly based on his opinion.

If your gynecologist is against it, don't worry: headbands, turbans and hats can help you cover regrowth and make your look more colorful!
