How to Make Sherazade, the Henna Hair Mask

Sherazade, also known as Henna Gloss, is a DIY hair mask made with two simple ingredients: silicone-free conditioner and henna.

This natural hair reflecting treatment combines the hydrating and nourishing power of the conditioner with the coloring and restructuring power of henna (or other dyeing herbs), to give you healthy, shiny hair.

How is sherazade made?

Making this henna gloss mask is really very simple. This is my recipe for henna gloss , for medium length hair.

You will need:

  • 5 tablespoons of henna
  • 5 tablespoons of conditioner or mask, without silicones

In a bowl, mix the henna with warm water or infusion until you obtain a smooth, lump-free mixture.

Add the conditioner or mask and mix well until everything is combined.

Shampoo and apply Sherazade to damp, towel-dried hair.

Use gloves and apply your hair mask evenly over all lengths.

Wrap everything in a cap to keep your hair warm, and leave it on for about 35-40 minutes to reflect your hair and make it healthy and shiny!

Rinse thoroughly with warm water, then proceed with your usual styling.

To better fix the color and make your hair even brighter, don't forget an essential step, the acid rinse!

Which henna can I use for sherazade?

Sherazade was born as a natural pack to revive hair colored with natural red henna, but it is also possible to make a sherazade with indigo, walnut husk, cassia and in general with all the herbs that we normally use to dye hair with henna.

Sherazade for blonde hair

Make your own highlighting mask with a blonde henna mix or create your own blend with cassia and turmeric for warm golden highlights or cassia and rhubarb for a cool blonde.

Sherazade for dark hair

For dark hair, you can make your sherazade with katam or walnut husk, to intensify the natural highlights of your hair. Also add some amla for a strengthening and polishing effect!

Illuminating Sherazade

If you don't want to change your starting color, prepare your sherazade with cassia or ziziphus, to illuminate the hair and deeply restructure it.

Sherazade for red hair

If you already dye your hair with red henna, you can use a warm-toned henna to enhance copper or orange tones or a cool-toned henna to bring out cherry highlights.

What conditioner can I use for sherazade?

Use your usual eco-bio conditioner without silicones! Choose a light conditioner or mask, not too rich in oils, so as not to hinder the color's grip.
If you have a conditioner or mask that aren't exactly perfect for your hair, sherazade can be a great solution to use them and avoid waste!

What are the benefits of sherazade?

Sherazade allows you to combine the benefits of herbs with those of a quick and easy treatment.

It is perfect to use when you want to give your hair a boost of hydration and shine, or to prolong the duration of the color between one treatment and the next.

Use sherazade if you want to maintain a warm tone on henna-dyed hair, thus avoiding layering.

Sherazade does not cover gray hair, but it delicately highlights it. If you need to cover gray regrowth with henna, you can apply your herbal dye preparation to the roots and then combine the conditioner with the remaining mixture to create an illuminating mask only on the lengths!

Are there any ready-made alternatives to Sherazade?

Until a few years ago there were no eco-bio alternatives to sherazade. Fortunately, in recent years it has been possible to find organic and natural hair reflecting masks on the market, which allow you to give colored reflections to your hair quickly.
