Making hair dye last longer is a need that many of us have, both with DIY dyes and those done by the hairdresser.
Hair that has just been dyed with quality products has a bright and intense color and we would like it to stay that way at least until the next dye.
This need is even more felt by those who do particular colorings such as balayage, lightening or highlights that cannot be repeated with the same frequency as a classic hair dye.
Here is our guide to making your hair dye last longer, without fading the color.
Choose quality products
Dyeing is a stressful treatment for our hair and it is therefore essential to do it using quality products.
Trust a qualified professional who uses safe and effective products or, if you prefer to dye your hair yourself, make sure you choose an effective and delicate product, with ingredients that have a restructuring and repairing action.
On the Yumibio blog you can read my article where I explain how to color your hair at home without damaging it.
Use gentle shampoos
After dyeing, wait at least 3 days before shampooing again to give the cuticles time to seal the color inside them.
When you wash your hair, do so using lukewarm water or, even better, cold water to keep the color more intense and brilliant.
Use restructuring treatments
Chemical treatments, but also smog, sun and heat sources can damage your hair making it appear dry and dull.
Using restructuring products will help you give your hair softness and volume, counteracting the straw effect and keeping the color bright for longer.
After shampooing, use the Glymalic Acid Repair pack for colored hair, with an exclusive restructuring complex that repairs damaged hair, making it shiny and soft.
To plump up your hair and give it strength and vitality, use Hair Filler Yuniwa Cosmetics, a leave-in with keratin, biotin and peptides. It improves the thickness of your hair, recompacts the fibres and plumps them up, counteracting breakage and fragility.
Protect your hair from heat
The high temperatures of hair dryers and straighteners make hair drier and more fragile and make the dye fade faster.
If you really can't do without it, use the hair dryer at a low temperature, keeping it at least 30 cm away from your hair. The same goes for the hair straightener and curling iron: set them to the lowest temperature available and reduce the exposure time to a minimum.
Before drying your hair, spray a good heat protectant to protect your hair from high temperatures.
Yuniwa Cosmetics Heat Protect Spray protects hair from heat and UV damage and helps keep your color vibrant for longer.
Thanks to its natural ingredients with hydrating and remineralizing action, it protects hair from dryness and fragility, making it soft and shiny.
Avoid pure oils
Vegetable oils are precious allies for our hair because they nourish the hair and make it elastic and soft.
If you have dyed hair though, better avoid it! Oil makes the color fade faster and is in fact one of the methods to make the dye fade faster.
Use a reflecting treatment
Between coloring treatments, you can use conditioners and reflecting masks to keep your color bright and shiny.
Reflective treatments are great if, like me, you prefer to dye your hair at home and only touch up the roots without having to color your entire hair every time.
Reflective conditioners and masks are designed to revive and intensify the reflections of your hair and are an ideal treatment to keep the color bright and shiny for longer.
