Bhringraj: Properties and How to Use It

Bhringraj , the false daisy with a regal name: it means "the King of hair" in Sanskrit!


Bhringraj, also called Maka, is the Sanskrit name of a plant, the " Eclipta prostrata" or "Eclipa alba" .
This Ayurvedic herb belongs to the sunflower family and produces flowers that resemble daisies, so much so that it is also nicknamed false daisy.

It grows in the area of ​​the world with a humid and tropical climate and is most widespread in India, Nepal, China, Thailand and Brazil.

In Ayurveda it is considered a rasayana (rejuvenator), known for its anti-aging properties.

The term Bhringraj in Sanskrit literally means “King of hair“.

In fact, it has properties that make it excellent for skin care but truly exceptional for hair care, on which it acts:

  • strengthening from the root
  • acting with anti-hair loss properties
  • promoting hair growth
  • preventing premature graying
  • giving body, volume and shine
  • sebum-regulating
  • eliminating dandruff
  • helping to resolve scalp problems such as eczema and dermatitis

It appears as a green-grey powder.


Bhringraj for hair

Post shampoo , combine two tablespoons of powder with warm water and mix until you get a smooth mixture similar to yogurt.
Apply to scalp and roots, massaging into skin with circular motions to stimulate growth and blood circulation. Cover with film and leave on for 30 to 60 minutes.
Rinse with water and apply a conditioner or do a good acid rinse!

Your hair will appear healthy, strong and restructured!

Warning: It has darkening properties on hair, so be careful if you have light hair and do not want this effect.

This powder can be added to the mixture of other Ayurvedic herbs and in dye packs.


Bhringraj for skin

Combine two tablespoons of powder with warm water and mix until you get a smooth mixture similar to yogurt.

Apply as a compress to skin with eczema, inflammation or psoriasis . Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse.

Bhringaraj promotes skin regeneration and fights aging , so it can also be used as a face mask.
